All right everyone, get ready for the first review of the Christmas season!

My lucky roll fell on "Another Christmas kiss", also titled "A Christmas kiss 2". I have no idea what the firstone is about, but hey. I figured Christmas romcoms are unhinged, so I can totally watch the second part and figure it out if there is something i miss. I tried to at least look up the plot of the first one to get an understanding of the contexts, but upon searching, I got multiple different movie posters with the same title, and the plot of the one I was watching, but there doesn´t seem to be anything missing from the plot of thisone except some common sense.

Did you ever wonder what would happen if Miranda from The Devil wears Prada was nicer? Or if you got randomly kissed by her playboy brother in an elevator when you stand in for a model just as his on and off girlfriend waits for him in the hall? Do you like to see people desperately clinging to their last drops of common sense for an hour straight just to give up at the end? Then this movie is exactly for you!

The plot follows a young fashion house assistant Jenna, who finds herself under the elevator mistletoe with her boss´s brother, who kisses her for who knows what reason, other than her being pretty. He tries to get involved in the business to get closer to Jenna, who wants anything but that. Gotta love a guy who steals your photo and doesn´t understand a no! Throughout all of this, she is accompanied by her neighbor and some good old step-mother and new family drama.

While Cooper (the guy) definitely made me want to file for a restraining order, I definitely enjoyed the fashion related theme in the movie. The visuals, styling, lighting and sets are very nice too. Whoever put these decoration on the hedge needs a raise 😁

Buckle up everyone, I found the pinacle of bad. I present you all, A jar full of Christmas.

Did you ever wonder what would it be like if you asked chatgpt to write a script, then make it 5 times worse? Do you like movies with pointless shots that could have been cut down to half and nothing would have happened? Is npc acting and flat line delivery your thing? Then do I have a movie for you. This 1hour 40 mins disaster tastes like bluebery jam and wasted potential, but let´s get into it

The movie follows Rose, who is living her busy life in a big city, until her mom passes away. Her job doesn´t want to give her a leave to attend the memorial, and so she quits on the spot and decides to spend some time in her childhood home to figure things out. She and her daughter Lily, who is 15 but looks like she´s at least in her mid 20s. That was a major bad step on the casting part, I´m sure the actress herself is lovely, but this role was not a fit at all, purely because she doesn´t look like a teenager, and it would have been much better if they gave the opportunity to someone who is the right age and she would have played someone more mature. Anyway. They meet people Rose used to know, like her old best friend who is probably the only one who the authors tried to give some personality (up until the moment you realize they had some leftover pink haircolour and so they put some on half of the town lol. A great example of the pink haircolor epidemic attached below. Also, notice the absolute peak set design of this scene. The movie had a major set design problem at the big shots like porch, and this christmas sale. Just. Would it be so painful to put something there 😭)

Other characters include the local pastor, whose resume is longer than my list of regrets, Rose´s ex husband who walked out when Lily was 3, and the guys best friend who would easily check off even the most bizarre dating app bio requirement list. Rose learns about her mom´s popular jam, and decides to try and recreate it for a charity sale to support the local church. With her daughter and friends, they embark on a journey of figuring out the secret ingredient in the least economic way possible. Why make a new batch of jam every time you try something new instead of just splitting up the one you already made on a small portions is beyond me, but i digress. The characters are doing their best. During their jam filled adventure, feelings start to develop between Rose and whatever the guys name is, all while the money hungry ex is trying to force his way back in the picture, just to be continuously intimidated by the slightest no he gets lol.

Either way, this thing was so painful to watch that if i got an opportunity to travel back in time, I would go back to fix this, starting with completely rewriting that script for the sake of us all. Honestly, if you took a sip of water every time the characters say yeah or ask back at something someone said by something along the lines of "you do?", you would not only be hydrated, but straight up get water poisoning by the end. At least the music, costumes and starting title screens were nice, if nothing else worked. 😅 Special shoutout to these earrings 😊

Today is the day when there won´t be a sarcastic review 😁 I watched Emmet otter´s jug-band Christmas, and let me tell you, it was such a heartwarming piece.

This muppet puppet movie came out in 1977 and is only 53 minutes long, but it was a piece of art from start to the very end. The puppets have so much personality, and the sets are beautifully crafted. All the city and village houses just made me appreciate traditional craft so much!

The story follows a young otter Emmet and his mom, both trying to make a modest living from various odd jobs after the father passed away. They learn about a Christmas talent show, and give up the last valuable things they have in efforts to win and give the other something they really want under the tree this year. The simple but sweet song filled story has a very untypical ending, what only made me appreciate it much more. Also, Kermit the frog makes an appearence too! Would have definitely enjoyed it as a child, but being an adult makes me truly marvel at the skill the creators needed to create the movie 😊
