Welcome to The Way of the River community! To help us build a space that supports everyone, we would love to get a sense of who you are and what you are looking for in The Way of the River.

Please introduce yourself and tell us, if comfortable, answering any of the following:

What brought you to the river? (What is happening in your life that led you here?)

What interests you most about this series? (Is there a specific lesson or concept you are eager to explore?)

What is the river looking like for you right now? Are you on calm, clear water, or are you currently navigating some rapids and feeling the turbulence?

And for fun, a fact about yourself:

@Heather225

What brought you to the river?
My curiosity, it's often something that automatically drives me forwards.
Not only to new experiences, but to learn and explore new things.

What interests you most about this series?
I fully admit that the most interesting thing I felt was the wounded healer,
but I also admit that there are so many interesting things there that I could make a list.

What is the river looking like for you right now?
My river is lazy and just lulling by, I've probably fallen asleep on the kayak.
Which tells me that I'm in need of some rest, some self-care and mindfulness moments.

And for fun, a fact about yourself:
A fun fact, I have 16 tattoos and 19 piercings.
Art is hobby that has many forms, I plan to get more tattoos in the future.

✨💙✨

I love that your curiosity is what led you to this path. It’s such a powerful engine for self-discovery and growth! The "Wounded Healer" archetype is a truly beautiful and resonant part of this journey! Your description of your river right now is so vivid and peaceful! Falling asleep on the kayak in a lazy river sounds like a very gentle, rhythmic reminder from your body to embrace that rest and self-care you mentioned. I hope this series provides you with the quiet moments of mindfulness you’re looking for while you drift.

I have to know more about your tats and inks (but I'll bug you about that in PMs 😂).

I'm looking to start this later today if not tomorrow, waiting for MRI at hospital at the moment. I've been feeling stuck with no sense of purpose, hoping 7 Cups and this series may help me find my way again.

@Heather225

What brought me here was my desire to always soak up more knowledge 💚

My life is calm currently, smooth current.

What impacted me the most was seeing the stepping stones in life that we have to overcome and we are all on a similar journey and there are so many wonderful insights that I never considered 💚

Fun fact: you'll often find me shouting vehemently at my TV whilst watching the football 😂😁💚

@Amanda84

I love that you have that natural drive to keep learning and soaking up knowledge. It makes the journey so much richer! It sounds like you are in a really peaceful spot right now with such a calm and smooth current. I hope you can really lean into that rest while you explore everything the series has to offer.

The idea of the stepping stones is so resonant. It is a beautiful reminder that we aren't alone and that everyone is navigating their own path right alongside us. I am so glad those new insights are already making an impact on you.

Also, what team do you root for? 😆

I love your talent for graphics 😍 Were you doing in real life listening before Cups, or did the passion develop through your journey here?

@Heather225 I started volunteering to the degree I did in my 20s. It was actually because of when I was in job corps. The required work based hours led into my passions and it took off. 😂 2 years straight I earned the president's volunteering award and I have all my awards still. Life happened-- marriage, kids, health issues, etc and volunteering online was just another outlet to keep my brain stimulated and to feel productive. Though in real life, for some reason volunteering online is never looked at the same if someone were to do it in person. I have no clue why. I do miss those days often, but I at least always have my memories. 🥰

I’m going through a particularly difficult transition in my life right now. In the past year I’ve moved to a small town on the east coast from my home in the Midwest mountains. I’m trying to find footing in a new career path, and I’m enduring the longest period of unemployment I’ve ever had in my life. All of this is putting unbearable stress on my relationship because I can’t help with bills or expenses, it’s all on my partner. I’m hoping to learn to find peace within myself, sometimes I feel so alone when I’m surrounded by people who I think love me and have my best interests at heart. I can’t stop thinking that I’m not enough because the people around me aren’t happy. I’m navigating through rapids, barely able to hold onto my canoe and taking on water.

@RickestRick86

I am so glad you decided to share your story with us. It sounds like you are navigating some incredibly heavy rapids right now. Moving across the country and dealing with a long period of unemployment is a massive weight for anyone to carry, especially when you feel like it is impacting your partner and your relationship.

That feeling of taking on water while trying to keep your head up is so real. It makes total sense that you would feel alone even when you are surrounded by people who love you, especially when you are wrestling with that feeling of not being enough. Please know that your worth is not tied to a job or a paycheck, even though the world often makes us feel like it is.

I hope that being part of this series and this community helps you find those small pockets of peace you are looking for. We are here to hold space for you while you find your footing and work through these rough waters.

Welcome to the river, and please be gentle with yourself today.

@Heather225

What brought you to the river? What is happening is many different dynamics to explore and an interest in learning new skills

What interests you most about this series? I am drawn to Acceptance and Commitment therapy and about how connection shows up differently for people.

What is the river looking like for you right now? The river currently for me is a mix of sass, restraint and so expect fizzy lime drink. And now laughter and acceptance.

And for fun, a fact about yourself: I am a floral reader - whimsy

@JasGab200519970

I love the imagery of your river right now! Ssass, restraint, and a "fizzy lime drink" sounds like a refreshing and very honest place to be! It's great to see that laughter and acceptance are flowing in as well.

Since you are drawn to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I think you’ll find plenty of those dynamics to explore here, especially as we look at how connection manifests for everyone in different ways.

Can you share more about being a floral reader? I just learned something new! <3
