@Jill7Cups

Sorry if this questions was already answered (I couldn't easily find this info)!

Does 7cups work only via text messages with Listeners and Therapists? Is there an option to talk to someone on a voice or video call?

Thank you!

Hello. I need help with my accounts. When I login, it takes me to my listener account and not my member account, where I have therapy! The button that said

@IndyListener As far as I know that is normal when your accounts have different e-mail addresses. In that case you must use your member e-mail address to get to your member account. (This is how it works for me.)

If your accounts have the same e-mail address, then 7 Cups normally asks you which account you want. If that is not working, report the problem using the Submit a request form in the Help Center.

I connected with a listener who claimed to be a counselor, username was [Edited by Tazzie to eliminate username for confidentiality purposes] He offered me a phone number to call and said he could help me. I replied that I prefered to chat here on 7cups. He then told me he had to leave but did agree to meet me the following week. We even agreed on the exact time and day. However, the listener [Edited by Tazzie to maintain confidentiality of the user] has disappeared from my dashboard. I can still see him listed among all the listeners I've ever chatted with whe I go to "My Progress" page, but when I click on his name there I get an "item not available" message. Is this a technical problem? Can it be corrected? I'd hate to leave this listener thinking that I simply did not show up for our sxheduled chat. Please can you help? Many thanks for your time and attention.

@FrozenGhost

Hello! Unfortunately, the listener violated a rule. Sharing personal contact information isn't allowed. While our backgrounds and credentials matter, on 7 cups a listener has to follow the listener and community guidelines in all their interactions. Due to initiating offsite contact, the listener was removed.

I hope this helps to clarify the sudden disappearance. I have edited the post to remove their username for confidentiality purposes.

How do I complete 5 1 on 1 chats

@Theeflash

By picking up general requests. Each chat = a total of 30 messages exchanged with a member.

Hello

Could you please explain about the community?

I'm a bit confused

I want to join a community

@Santia You are a member, so you're part of the community. You can also join sub-communities, but you don't have to. They are listed here: Communities

It's confusing that sub-communities are sometimes called communities, without the sub-, but that's just the way it is.

How do I get rid of that annoying ongoing bell?

@Linnykras Maybe on your Settings page, in the Sound Preferences section. You usually get to it by clicking on your own profile picture at the top right (on the website).

(That link is for listeners. The link for members is: Settings)

I read some thing somewhere about how important it is to respond to personal requests, but what if I'm already in a conversation? This happened to me today and I just didn't take it but now I feel bad...

@RainAndElectricLight When you are in a conversation, switch your status to Busy (orange) by clicking on your own profile picture at the top right (on the website). This prevents personal requests. No one really knows why the system doesn't do this automatically for us.

People can still message you when your status is Busy or even Offline, but you don't have to respond immediately, or at all.

Just wondering are chats monitored by 7cups? That question is been playing on my mind ever since I posted about a listener who disappeared from my dashboard. In my post, I mentioned this listener had given me a phone number to call and the 7cups person who replied said that was the reason this listener had been removed, for trying to intiated that contact. The thing is, the listener had already disappeard before I posted my message to 7cups so how did 7cups know the listener tried to initiate that contact before I even told them? Does 7cups monitor 1:1 member to listener chats?

@FrozenGhost if they did it to you, they probably did it to other people and maybe was already reported for similar behaviors by other members or listeners. sometimes people include screenshots in their report message,
7cups doesnt monitoring the chats but does have some censors (which send a message to the listener that the message is breaking the rules but also send a copy of this specific flagging message to the flag team).
I hope it answers your question. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with this listener.
I hope you can get the support you need from other listeners who will respect your boundaries because you deserve it.

@Jill7Cups Hi! I'm not really sure how to end a chat. I clicked the "end live chat" button, and the chat is still under my 1-on-1 conversations. Does that mean when I click on that chat, I begin live chatting again? Is there a way to "officially" end a conversation with a listener? Or will that chat always be on my 1-on-1 list? Thank you!

@runnybabbit1998 As far as I know, Jill7Cups is no longer active at 7 Cups.

When you end a live chat, the chat becomes an offline chat. This means you can continute to exchange messages, but neither of you should expect immediate replies. The chat remains in your chat list and also in the listener's chat list.

If you don't plan on messaging that listener again, you can hide the chat using the little × button in your chat list. But the chat remains in the listener's list (unless the listener does the same thing), and the listener might message you again.

If you don't want any further contact, you can block the chat using the "Block this Connection" button in the chat. The chat disappears from your chat list and also from the listener's chat list.

No one knows why 7 Cups has made this so complicated and unclear.
