A SMALL BUDDHIST STORY

Two monks were walking through the countryside—an older monk and a younger one.

They came to a river with strong currents and saw a young woman struggling to cross.

The woman asked for help.
The younger monk hesitated—monks were not supposed to touch women.
But the older monk picked her up, carried her across the river, and gently set her down.

They continued walking in silence.

Hours later, the younger monk finally said,
"How could you do that? We're not supposed to touch women."

The older monk replied,
"I put her down hours ago. Why are you still carrying her?"

@Harmony272

this shows how people tend to carry the burden of their past actions and experiences, even when it has long passed.
