My husband recently left me. Due to my struggles with abusive toxic patterns along side alcoholism. I’m proud to say that I quit but unfortunately the lasting damage due to my inability to realize I had a problem since my dad passed in 2023, has caused me to lose my better half.

I quit drinking the day after he left , it’s like something snapped in me and I came back into reality. I started therapy last Wednesday and I’ve been there three times so far. Two more appointments and then I will get situated on medication and a treatment plan. I struggle with BPD and the alcohol definitely did not help that. Obviously. Since again, I lost my best friend. Everything happens for a reason and some things are out of our control. That gives me peace. And the fact that I’m not hurting him anymore and I’m becoming who I was before the hurt, but stronger.

So that’s a bit about me and my situation. I’m looking for a community that maybe can relate on either side.

Thank you for sharing that, Kat. Opening up about something our lived experiences takes real courage. Taking steps toward support isn't easy, but your resilience shows through every part of what you’ve shared. We have forum communities and many facilitated group chats that can be of help. But, such a meaningful thing you mentioned: feeling like you are who you were before the hurt, but stronger. That kind of growth speaks to the work you’ve been doing and the strength you carry. 💙
