My first interaction on here and I think I have already been blocked?
I just had the app find a random listener to start talking to and I told them I was new and unsure of how to start the conversation. They asked why I was here and I told them about how I have been depressed and some of the things I think have contributed to my current mental state... they said “I’m sorry”. I then told them my age, gender, and relationship status just so they would have a reference as to how to respond, and after that I could no longer access the messages. I left the tab and reopened it and now the messages aren’t even in my inbox…
Its not that it’s that big of a deal if they felt like my problems were too much for them to handle… just tell me you think I should talk to someone else. I’m already struggling and it doesn’t feel great to get cut off like that as soon as I share my problems? 🫤
Maybe I’m overthinking it and the app is just glitchy? It is my first day, so idk if maybe this kind of thing happens all the time?
Thank you for reading. ❤️
@pinkLime8616 I get it I've been blocked but if they're going to do that talk to someone who will talk to you and if they block you before you exit the chat report them because I think you can do that and then they'll just get kicked for being a listener or get more training
I too had bad experience with a listener. Before that chat i had lots of low self esteem issues. After that chat, i am broken and had more insecurities now. Now i am afraid to talk to other listners. These people dont know us completely and start to judge us with in 1 minitue conversation. If they are not interested with our topic, they can say it and leave. Better than worsening the situvation we are in.
There are good listners too... Those people helped me too..
But this one broke me.

I'm sorry that you have had such a bad experience with a listener on your first chat. That was truly sad and you have all the right to feel angry. As a listener, they should be aware that their responsibility here is to make people feel better instead of making them feel more vulnerable. It requires a lot of courage to trust a stranger on the interest and throw out all our personal secrets. Yet, they decided to respond in such an immature and irresponsible way.
However, most of the listeners are compassionate and know the importance of communication. I hope you can find a better listener in the future! 💗
I'm really sorry for that. You had to face such thing here. @LZYYYy is totally right about it. And remember it was not your fault in anyway possible that they blocked you. It's there problem that the other listener doesn't know how to communicate with the people properly and how to empathize. But we all are not like that many listeners are very empathic and understanding. Give a second chance to us listeners. I know many of them won't disappoint you. I hope you have a great day ahead✨
@genuineShoulder461
You said everything I said in my comment, just better. I completely agree.
@pinkLime8616
Jesus. This shouldn't happen. Like, AT ALL. I'm so sorry this happened to you anyways.
I agree listeners aren't trained as well as they could be. They should know that this is bad. In your case, it might've been bad but not devastating. In other cases, it might drive a person into thinking nobody WANTS to help them.
Your experience is valid. This isn't okay. A listener shouldn't suddenly stop answering or block you. That's not how any of this works. I'm so sad and angry right now.
Please know we're not all like this. I've met some wonderful listeners on here that genuinely want to help people and know how to handle a situation they're not comfortable dealing with.
I'll say it again: NO MATTER WHAT YOU'VE SAID you shouldn't be blocked like that. We even are supposed to give people saying inappropriate things a warning first. There's pretty much no reason to block a person up front, without saying anything, ESPECIALLY if they really need help.
Again, I'm sorry this happened to you. This is not okay. I hope you can find somebody who can actually listen to you and support you. I know verified listeners are very busy, but it's worth trying if you can find somebody who you can trust in the way that they won't do more damage than help.
You matter. Your feelings are valid. Take care!
@pinkLime8616 I thought it happened only with me :( I was so confused what happened suddenly the listener was vanished from my inbox but now I can understand
I am truly sorry that this happened to you. I wouldn't say it's a common occurrence, but unfortunately it does happen, affecting not only members but also us listeners. There have been times (I would say about 1 in 20 instances) when I was genuinely trying to help a member, only to suddenly find myself blocked. The reasons could vary, ranging from misunderstandings to the member or listener's preference solely for casual conversations.
That being said, there are many excellent listeners available here. If there's one suggestion I could offer to someone like you who is new to 7 Cups, it would be to skip general chat requests and instead send a personal request to a listener of your choice (use this link). You can utilize filters such as age, topic, gender, country, language, and verified status for convenient selection. Also, listener profiles provide ample info about their experiences and their ability to assist people through their issues highlighted through reviews.
From my many yrs of experience , many men want to know ur personal bio details cuz they r misusing this app as a dating app
Thank you to everyone who commented! I appreciate the support from you guys! ❤️
Sorry I haven’t been on here much as I have been sick the past few days. Now that I’ve had some time to think about the situation I am not as upset as I was when it happened. Maybe they are new to being a listener…I know my issues could be sensitive topics for some people and maybe they just hit block without really thinking about it first? Regardless I am hoping to have more positive experiences going forward. 🫶
I'm sorry someone did this to you. I wish the app had an option to report negative behaviour as it can have a huge impact on someone who's already feeling fragile.
I hope you found a good listener and got the support you deserve. You matter.
