Zhu Hongxin, a 6-dan amateur Go player born in Quanzhou, Fujian, in January 2016, was confirmed to have died at 20:46 on May 19. He was a student of the Hangzhou Go pro qualification class, the class for students to train for the Go Pro Qualification Tournament, of Hangzhou Mind Sports School, and his student status was in the primary school section of Quanzhou Zhongyuan School. He rose to 6-dan on April 6, 2025, because of the 4th place in the 1st Edition of the Year 2025 Fujian Amateur 6-dan Go Tournament final, held from April 4 to April 6, with 5 wins and 2 losses. The last Go tournament he participated in was the 9th "Weixing Cup" Chinese Amateur Go Open Tournament held from May 13 to May 16. When this Go player was alive, he frequently endured his father's violence for a long time. His arms were always covered with injuries from his father. He was slapped in the face by his father almost every time he lost a Go game, even if his opponent was much better at Go than he was. His father was once witnessed running after him to beat him, perhaps because of this Go player's unexpected loss. He once missed the 1st place because of losing the last round, and his father kicked him into the air in the corridor of the school. Whether this Go player won the Go game or not seemed more important than his life, which loaded him with great pressure. It is said that his mother left the family shortly after he was born, and there was only he and his awful father. Finally, he jumped from the building and died.

I am shocked and sad at his death. He was a talented amateur Go player from our province and he should have had a bright future.
It's saddening to know that he was suffering abuse under the care of his parent. I could not imagine how much pain he was going through he could not take it anymore and jumped. No one should have to go through that. I hope, even if it's a bit, people will start taking lives seriously and try to help when they spot signs of abuse early on.

I couldn't believe my eyes in the first place when the news appeared before my eyes. He was his father's biological son and such an excellent amateur Go player that I can't understand why his father could be so cruel to him. I found his account on Fox Weiqi, an online platform to watch and play Go games, and I followed him. I have always wished him to pass the Chinese Go Pro Qualification Tournament to be a professional Go player and earn honor for himself and even our province. Why should he have gone through the tragedy?
Zhu Hongxin's mother left the family because she couldn't bear the violent man anymore, while the latter stopped her from taking their poor son away. Neither did Zhu Hongxin dare to shout, nor did he try to hide when being slapped, pinched, or kicked, and he tolerated his father's violence silently, even until he was unable to get up from the floor. Those adults who once tried to cease the Go player's father's brutality were also beaten by the wicked man.
During the Year 2025 "Mingshi Cup", Zhu Hongxin lost to Wu Xinyang, a 5-dan amateur Go player also born in January 2016, in round 8, which was his only loss (8W1L), and he was kicked so hard that he could hardly stand up.
It's said that the Go training institution, in which Zhu Hongxin trained, called the police, but the awful thing wasn't solved. I can't understand the police's inaction.

I have ever played two Go games against Zhu Hongxin, and every time I played Go games with him, I saw new injuries overlapping old ones on his arms, from being pinched, burnt by cigarette ends, beaten by an iron rod, kicked, and so on.
Once, when he was being beaten by an iron rod by his father in the Go academy in front of everyone, a student's grandmother tried to stop the man, and her shins were hit by the iron rod, which were swollen for a month until they recovered. Zhu Hongxin's father had said, "I will also beat the person who tries to stop me." Therefore, nobody dared to interfere anymore.
Zhu Hongxin's mother escaped because she couldn't bear the man's violence, and the man directed the spearhead at the small child. We often witnessed his father beat and insult him in the Go academy in front of everyone, and even disallow him from having meals. Zhu Hongxin's suffering was our great heartache, but we were unable to help him, which was the saddest thing to us.
Zhu Hongxin was playing the big round robin in the Go academy on May 19, and he lost two games. His father went out on that afternoon, and he was alone at home. Perhaps out of fear of being beaten brutally because of losing games, at about 18 o'clock, he jumped from the 10th floor and died. His father arrived at the scene between 20 o'clock and 21 o'clock.

Am sorry that's super horrible :/ is there any laws against child abuse from where they are from? :/ or was is just police ignoring it ? That's super sad but it happens in many places and not much people talking about it ❤️🩹 so thanks for the post

I don't know the details of how the police dealt with this matter. I searched for information about laws online. It's said that anyone who deliberately harms others' bodies and causes minor wounds should be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment for below three years, detention, or be put under surveillance.

This is a tragedy. A moral failure of truly epic proportions. Children are innocent, and they feel pain more deeply than adults because they don't have as much capacity to process trauma. I know what it's like to be hurt by a parent. It's deeply confusing and disorienting. It's a miracle this child had such success in life, for he was great in the face of adversity.
I wish I could turn back time and sort out the father's issues so this never occurred in the first place.

They may want to say Zhu was in Hangzhou so they didn't want to be entangled with the matter. The Hangzhou Go academy didn't release anything about Zhu Hongxin's death, although he trained there when he was alive. The last news about him published by the Go academy was his prize in the Year 2025 "Mingshi Cup". It is disturbing that there seems to be suppression of truth here. I will be completely honest, when things start getting complex, I start to get lost in it. I'm a very simple man with a terrible memory and ADHD. So I largely rely on intuition.
There are definitely people here avoiding accountability like the plague. They will have to live with that in their hearts, and the soul knows when it is lying to itself and dies. It will be a hollow existence for them until they confront their demons. It is a justice in itself, though a quiet one. I wish for loud justice here. For someone to realise the events that took place and to drag these vermin through the fire and flames.
Your doubt may serve as someone's inspiration to look deeper into the issue. Trust your intuition if you have an honest heart. If you believe further action should be taken, spread your reckonings and hope it sparks change. Though remember, it is not your responsibility. There is no sense in your suffering needlessly because of this. It would only add to the madness.
