Plato or a Kardashian 🤔
When you have a problem do you tend to look for solutions from family, friends, or well known sources of help or would yoy be more influenced by the latest fads, fashions, and what the influencers and celebrities are saying? Are you more philosophical or do you like to be thought for?
@Amanda84 🤔🤔 I'm in the middle 🤔 I live in a bubble I love my bubble💖
@Tinywhisper11 thank you, being in the middle is an interesting place to be 🥰 I'm more old school to be honest, I love the old philosophers, my favourite quite being, I think therefore I am. I love a unique opinion, outspoken, not following the crowd, authentic, non conforming or caring, thought out. The Kardashian era for me is mostly about what opinions are fashionable and agreeable.
@Amanda84 I think most of the reason I have no friends is because I don’t think in the modern convention. If I quoted Plato, people look down and away awkwardly. 😅 😮💨 I would love to have a friend who could philosophize with me!
@Amanda84 I mean, even a stopped clock is right twice a day - if you look for celebrity wisdom, sometimes it's there to be found. I'm not exclusively a 'street philosophy' type, mind you, but I am a fan of the rather whimsical 'How Proust Can Change Your Life!' by Alain de Botton, deliberately written in a playful self-help style to bring Proust's wisdom into the everyday. What does grind my gears is the co-opting of Marcus Aurelius by people who've been called elsewhere the ''Sto-Bros"; adopting Stoic attitudes as a way of self-reinforcing the whole grind mindset and endless hustle culture. Not, I reckon, what those ancient philosophers had in mind.
@Amanda84
"always be yourself.
unless you can be a philosphoer,
Then always be a philosopher."
Thats my answer 😁
@geometric737 I've seen that paraphrased elsewhere: "Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then be a unicorn" lol! 🤣 And now I'm annoyed that I can't see a unicorn emoji from the list. There's a mermaid one, mind.
@DemiMondaine oh but to be a mermaid 😁🥰
@Amanda84 I agree. I always think of the Anaïs Nin quote - "I must be a mermaid. I have no fear of depths but a great fear of shallow living"
@DemiMondaine that captures it so perfectly for me, in a nutshell, thank you :)

@Amanda84
It's complicated, I like to follow the example of others while having a philosophical approach to the world. Namely I rely on logic and reasoning to navigate the world, but it's informed by emotion.
People have had success for a reason. There's something to learn from them even if they're not entirely good all the time. Sometimes the lesson is to just have confidence, believe in yourself.
@cyanessence I like that, everyone has something to offer, and rely on ourselves, thank you for your measured response 💜🥰
@cyanessence Believing in yourself is the foundation to everything 💜🥰
@Amanda84
Having had a distinct lack in the past, I can say confidence is part of the recipe for success. It is hard to build if you have none... hard to work on if you only have some... and overbearing if you have too much! It's like life is a cake, and for a good one you need confidence, kindness, honesty, love, and probably something sweet.
