Poem by me.
She could be a doctor, a businesswoman, or reach the stars,
But society tells her, “Your place is only in marriage.”
And slowly, her dreams become the price she pays for being a girl.
@ToughLifeofRuchika
Society doesn't get to decide , you do 💛

@ToughLifeofRuchika
sounds like you're in the wrong society. Not all societies are this way
@ToughLifeofRuchika
A poem that says it all in three simple lines... that's great. I love it.
If I may;
A woman is told her place, she feels emotional scars,
Looking at the sky at night, she longs to reach the stars,
Her mind ceaselessly seeks, a way to break societies bars.
Namaste,
Wolf

This is such a nice read! Thank you for sharing
@ToughLifeofRuchika Nice poem but it's depends on the situation. It's a common story.
@Minimum00
Hello Minimum, welcome.
You make a good point about the matter being situational. It also depends, very much, on the person in the situation. As you know different people can look at, and think about, things in very different ways.
I'll draw an example using myself. As a Western born, Westernised male I think about things in a certain way, if you ask me to think about a situation in India, for example, I'm not going to be able to because I've never been there, lived there or been part of the society and the culture, however, being a human being I can understand when someone is reaching out for support and caring, no matter our race, colour or creed being a part of the global population of "Mankind" makes certain things, thoughts and concepts, universal.
Namaste,
Wolf
@ToughLifeofRuchika Powerful words! Girls deserve to dream freely ✨
@ToughLifeofRuchika
let them say whatever they want but she can also do whatever she wants 😉
@6Dreamwish9
Good morning Dream, how are you today? As well as can be expected I hope?
This is one of those things that I was trying to draw comparisons about. Your words might be absolutely true in many countries in the world but, as I was trying to delicately point out, the same cannot be said of all countries. In many countries women, and to a certain extent men also, are "expected" to behave in a certain manner, conduct themselves in a certain way, accept their society's roles and comply with what their family, society and faith expect of them. If they don't they are ostracised by all, both personally and socially.
We might see that as harsh and unforgiving but we aren't part of that specific culture so we can't really make a judgement one way or the other. Being a "Listener" here at 7 Cups this fact can make things very difficult and stressful at times.
Namaste,
Wolf
Good day wolf, thanks for your time writing those words that came from a listener with a heavy heart 🙏
I understood what you want to say very well, and what you mean about these cultures and how important their rules are influencing . But from these cultures, amazing Inspiring examples came out too, some became famous and the whole world knew about them, while others were just as special, real heroes in their own lives, but no one ever knew about them
It’s about dreams wolf , When it comes to dreams, sometimes they come true. And sometimes, we’re just happy that we had a beautiful dream, even if it never came true 🤷♀️
@6Dreamwish9
Very well said Dream, yes, as William Thatcher Snr. said to William Thatcher Jr. In "A Knights Tale", "Yes young William, a man may indeed change his stars!"
It is just a tough moment, for me, when I'm in Listener mode and trying to support those that are trapped. Thank you for your words, I shall consider them well.
Namaste,
Wolf.
I can imagine the undercurrent and pressure behind the words written, and can’t deny that certain societal structures can lack an understanding of equity and inclusiveness, thereby denying individuals the freedom to make their own choices and live up to their dreams and potential.
At the same time, hope is not lost, nor are things necessarily this way in general. There are plenty of examples from across the globe of people, irrespective of their gender or inclinations, making an impact in their own ways while navigating societal structures and, at times, moving beyond them.
Of course, every case is different, and things can never truly be generalized, whether for the good or otherwise.
What should matter most is one’s merit and commitment to a worthy pursuit, with due regard for individual circumstances.
@FeeltoHealwithZeal
Well said indeed Zeal, your words are greatly appreciated.
Namaste,
Wolf
Very nice well appreciated your skills 👍
@ToughLifeofRuchika
I can relate to you.
Sometimes we want something else but we have to do something else. The sadness the helplessness in that moment.
I would say it not About culture or how someone response. It more about the feeling of soul which living life which her heart did not desire it.
Hugs to you.
