Such Unexpected Fun
Okay, this is my first week on 7 Cups and can I just say… I really love the community here so much more than I expected! Honestly, I thought I’d download it, get bored, and delete it after a few days, but the exchanges and forums feel so wholesome and genuine.
One thing I especially love is that most of the people posting seem to be adults. I connect so much more with the conversations here since it feels like everyone is honestly trying to navigate life the best they can — talking, sharing the wisdom they’ve learned, and being super encouraging. Love it.
When I looked up 7 Cups online, I was surprised by how negative the reviews were. I’ll admit I haven’t used the listening feature yet, but the app was never meant to be a replacement for therapy. You can’t expect professional-level communication when the role is literally called “listener” and not “psychologist” 😂. To me, it’s just a kind person behind a screen who might have gone through their own struggles and wants others to feel seen and heard — and that’s awesome. It serves a purpose in its own right.
What about you all? How has your experience been using 7 Cups?
Like you I love the forums also, great mix of personalities. I've not keen on the requesting a Listener side, too unavailable and when I finally did get one, no response whatsoever, so put me off.
As a Listener myself, the routine chats are great, I like being there for others who are struggling.
The other side of it, is some chats feel like trolls and liars so a waste of the time, where I could be helping someone genuine.
But answering random questions of giving advice in the forums is a nice lighthearted aspect :)
@versatileVillage3356 As a member, it's always good to tell the story over and over to someone who will listen, it helped me make new realizations every time I would tell a new listener what was bothering me. It also speeds up the process of moving on and getting over certain struggles in life, or at least makes it easier.
I've been using this site on an off for over 10 years and it's always been a safe place for me. A place that makes me feel more seen, heard and understood.

Yes I didn't see my connection with 7cups would last or become so deep. I feel at home here. Its been several years since I joined.

I love being on here too. Feels like my second home. I love the fact that my thoughts and suggestions are heard without judgement. Also, the chat rooms, the games, the pen pal sections. Loving every moment here!!
