Wrote a poem. Would you read it for me?

I wrote this on a whim a few weeks ago. Not looking for recognition, just wanted to share it somewhere.

Rest

I am a wanderer, lost in a forest,
Even though I’m trying my best.
I’m a vagabond, completely alone.
“What should I do? Should I atone?”

This forest is haunting, full of bare
And twisted trees, no one to care.
My steps are quiet—_is this a dream?_
I have no mouth, and I must scream.

People come and go, but they can’t see,
Or they choose not to. Like I’m a tree.
Always there, but to them, insignificant.
I keep saying “help me,” like a chant.

Nobody hears, nobody sees. Deaf forest.
I want to escape, thinking the worst.
Feelings have lost their meaning.
Then what is the point of living?

I hear a gentle voice in my mind,
Never heard something so kind.
It calls to me, toward a clearing,
No matter what it may bring.

In the middle of the clearing,
There she is, sitting, waiting.
She sees, she greets, she smiles,
The only light for a hundred miles.

“My name is Alice,” she says gently,
With a wide smile, without any dread.
I am scared. This must be a trick.
While I’m down, is she going to kick?

She didn’t. A hand, she offered.
I took it slowly, like half-dead.
It was warm and soft to the touch,
Felt nothing like a hostile clutch.

My eyes open wide; I can’t get it.
Beautiful—my heart about to split.
I ask with fear, “You can see me?”
“I’m here to help. In time, you’ll see.”

My expression softens; a tear falls.
Is it possible? Am I out of my ***?
My mind races, saying nothing.
She wipes my tear. Warmth lingering.

“I am here. Sit with me. Take a rest.”
She takes my hand, guides me to her nest.
She settles back down in the meadow,
Wrapped in a strange and gentle glow.

I sit down, her hand still holding mine.
“Are you… real? Please, be my lifeline.”
She slowly nods. “Yes, but only to you.”
My head rests in her lap before I knew.

Her hand strokes my hair; I feel at ease.
No more worries. She heard my pleas.
My heart slows, my eyes close. Sleep.
I’ve never fallen to slumber so deep.

didn’t know that I can write until words came out so light

it makes me happy to fight the eagerness shown at sight

a feeling of being right at places that were at the height

of making it so bright when souls once died

I love your poem.  It speaks so much emotion and what most of us can relate to.  Well for me that is.  I felt I am in this forest and nobody is seeing me.  Not feeling that comfort I wish I had.  I wish I had Alice to be with me too to comfort me in my sleep.  :)

I'm glad you like it! However, Alice doesn't exist. In real life, anyway. I was fascinated by Woderland and Alice, who escaped to that place from trauma.

In my poem, many things are up to the reader to interpret. Alice could be the savior the wanderer (or me) need, but she could also be the reaper.

And... this is why I left the ending open. At least I wanted to leave it open. Is it a restful sleep? Or... the reaper gives one final kindness...?

I know it's gotten dark so suddenly, and I wholeheartedly apologize, if brought your mood down.

This was such a beautiful and powerful song. Thank you for sharing it with us! I feel this can be a song. I think i know what music would go well with it.

Keep it up! I would love to read more.
