@twocozy hello nice to meet you 🥰 what helps me is:

Alone time.

Space to process and let things simmer.

Being honest with my feelings.

Music.

Gigantic bar of chocolate 😁

@twocozy  Currently riding out a pretty big PTSD/OCD wave.  Box breathing.  Telling the only person I trust besides my peers like you "Just a heads up I'm feeling ____ and may become a hot mess" helps a lot just being heard/seen. I drag myself kicking and screaming to art group at the local clinic to socialize with safe folks in a safe place and get a bit of exposure therapy.  Eat right, exercise, go to bed early knowing Im gonna toss and turn only to wake up to a nasty flashback. Meditate and do yoga.  Touch grass.  Take it out on my bass guitar.  And put the OCD to good use pursuing creative goals.  Been in recovery for nearly a decade and while I deal with symptoms less often I still have weeks like this one.  Well wishes and may you find what works for you.  You are worth it.

@twocozy Hey,

someways that I find to soothe myself,

Exercising, gym, jump rope, tapping of the body, yoga, hot or cold water baths, dancing

I find that movement helps shift things going on within the mind and the body, and can produce a healing affect, also producing feelings of joy.

also when I’m feeling ***, I can refer to my funny saved posts on socials and lmao.

And when I’m panicky or anxious I,

I go for long walks 30 to 45 minutes, I don’t mind walking especially when I’m sad because along the way, my mind is able to shift something else.

I also do breathing I discovered some on YouTube. I started it because I could see how it would soothe me after a couple minutes helps you calm down, calm your nervous system and calm your racing heart rate. At least that was my experience. Slow inhales, slow, exhales.

Go on lots of walks.  And if you have a safe person to talk to, to talk about what you are going through.  Otherwise, writing things down.

@twocozy

When things suck, I like to just feel. Listen to favourite songs, eat what I desire most, take long showers. I wish I had talked more, because relating to people can be such an amazing feeling.

Ultimately I think the goal is to feel more human. The best thing I have found to achieve this is introspection. Really figuring out why you feel the way you do gives you the power to make a change, but I know that's not always easy.

Try new things. Learn something, take a break from responsibility if appropriate, get into art, journal, exercise, connect and understand. Find what makes you feel alive, and take some time to self-love.
