Can anyone tell me if I have been blocked?
A listener who I speak to regularly now has her account up as 'Unknown' and her profile photo, name and our conversations have disappeared. We ended things on a great note last time so I am more than confused and sad.
I am sad she didn't tell me. Thought we were friends :(
@Jenni855
sometimes it's not their choice.
What do you mean? She was a good person, she wouldn't have done anything wrong @HalliwellSister
@Jenni855
sometimes good listeners are put on breaks for self care. Forced self care.
@HalliwellSister Do they get told about it or is the account just deactivated?
@Jenni855
if forced, they get an email after. But again I'm speculating here.
@HalliwellSister I've never heard of a forced self care break, or is that a nice way of saying they were banned?
@Phthalo
forced self care exists. It's not the same thing as being banned.
@HalliwellSister That sounds extremely fishy (someone's listener account being forced shut down when they did nothing wrong? And when someone needs them?) and I'm wondering where you got this information?
@Phthalo
it happens if the listener is reported. Being banned is not the same as being put on a break.
@HalliwellSister So it's a temporary ban
@Phthalo
I guess. I am speculating though. Could have just been a spontaneous break.
Hi there, sorry that you are feeling upset by this. Sounds as if your listener has deactivated their profile, possibly for a self care break. It may be that she did send you a message but if you hadn't been online to read it by the time she deactivated, you would not be able to access it until she reactivates.
Sometimes folk have things come up in their lives which means they need to leave abruptly for a while. This isn't a reflection of any of the members they speak to, just circumstances. 😊
Know it may he hard, but in the meantime, I hope you can maybe find some more listeners you click with just as well. A variety can be a really good thing - all those fresh sets of eyes & perspectives!
Take good care of yourself for now
It doesn't make any sense. I guess I have to just try and forget about it but itnis confusing and I worry I did something wrong. She said she had missed our chats the other day. It's just odd. @IAmHere83
@Jenni855
Life loves to throw us curveballs that intervene with what we'd ideally like to do, hey? Regardless of her reason, it sounds as if her deactivation really was nothing personal to you. Know it's upsetting, but perhaps your listener will return at some point. 😊
Listeners tend to be spontaneous and do things without explanation. While this specific thing hasn't happened to me before I've had listeners leave while things were going just fine as well.
So maybe yours just left for no reason? Or they could have been banned for something they did with another member or in the group chat. Idk.
@Jenni855
I'm so sorry to hear that you are unable to connect with your listener. I know that it takes a long time to develop trust in someone and when they leave, it's extremely painful. As a former listener, I also had to deactivate my account due to rl matters. As much as I loved being a listener, it was too demanding with all that was going on in my life. I told a few close long term members about my personal struggles, but unfortunately was met with some hostility because I'd be unable to be there for them. It feels terrible and heartbreaking on both sides, believe me. It was not something that I wanted to do and I'm sure it's the same with your listener as well.
If your last conversation with your listener ended on a good note, I really think it had nothing to do with you. I'm sure your listener still cares, and if they are able to reconnect with you at a later date, I'm sure they will. Don't give up hope but remember, there are a lot of lovely listeners here. Perhaps trying to connect with a new one right now may be best.
Take care
xx
