I don't because usually they tell me to flee and not fight, therefore the emotions and actions will get the better of me

I typically don't because things tend to turn out the opposite when i trust my instincts. not sure if that makes sense, but that's how I feel a lot if the time.

I have learned to always trust my instincts because it's always right even when I wish it wasn't. When I haven't trusted my instincts in the past I have always regretted it.

If, by instinct, you mean, "Do you trust your gut reaction to things?" Then, no. I do not.

Gut instinct is intuition. Intuition, though helpful for knowing oneself, gives you no new information about the world around you. It's all emotional memories of the past changing the lens through which you're viewing the present. It's emotional mind only. "I feel it; therefore, it's true," which isn't the best way of going about life. A person could look at you in a way someone may have in the past, and because it was a negative experience, you may place that negativity onto this person you're dealing with in the present. You could very easily conclude things now are just like they were in the past and shut yourself off from what may actually be a rewarding relationship (romantic or not) with said present person. Gut reaction is just another way of saying, "emotional reaction to immediate interpretation of situation as you've understood it similarly in the past." No new information or skills can be learned operating exclusively in this way.

I want to have intuition and logic, or wise mind, when I think about things, interpret situations, and make decisions. I want to be able to be aware of my emotions, pointing me towards past events, while also using logic to figure out if it's a reasonable response to the current situation, separate of my past. Does how I'm feeling fit the facts of the present situation? Or just the past situation? These are important to know, so you don't just allow emotion and your past to be in charge of your life for you.
