I keep going through a cycle: I try to improve only out of guilt - usually, guilt that's evoked by somebody else confronting me - but once that guilt fades and nobody seems to be paying me much attention, I stop trying to improve. I'm trying - or at least considering trying - to improve again right now. I'm quite sure I'll stop before too long. Then somebody will confront me again, and the cycle will repeat.

I've been working so hard on my job as a nurse, but I know it's worth it for helping people :)

Something I've had on my mind recently is my self esteem. I seem to think it's a bad thing for me to express myself.....I'm afraid to. I wish I had the ability (or courage) to just be myself, and not care what anyone else thinks. For reference I am a punk/goth and people in those communities are often viewed as: problematic, satanic, stupid, weird, racist, and more.

Have been hunting for elusive forests/wild landscape where I don't run into pesky and often intrusive human presence. Came close this bike trip, but had an occassional heavy truck/lorry/car pass by me, spoiling it all. I hope this year lands me the treasure I seek.

Awesome pursuit. Have you read Robert MacFarlane's non-fiction wild places? It is one of my top favorite books because of the "twist" he puts on finding the wild and his tree climbing. I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read it.

@oakhenge

I haven't read it, been hunting for wilderness since decades and I regret to say this, the forests and wilderness that I saw a decade ago are rapidly vanishing. They have been replaced by the ominous asphalt track, followed by a few settlements near the roads, then a full scale colonization by a lifeless concrete jungle; and foul smoke belching road monsters. All this in a span of less than a decade.

Oh yes! The road kills of wild animals are a common sight too, just to add the tragic twist to the sordid tale.

if you live in the UK you'll want to read wild places because he sets it in the islands and through the cities, finding the wild that we miss and can notice. It will expand your eyes and lift your spirit.

@oakhenge

Thanks! Always good to hear about kindred spirits but am not in the UK. Am in the tropics and am going to keep digging till I stand before my Creator.

I recently graduated, and every job I have applied for needs at least one year experience in the field. How are you supposed to get the experience if no one will higher you.

@oliveTalker7352

Preach! The job postings people put up are sometimes madness. Just don't assume that the things they say are requirements actually are. Seems to me that all the job postings are probably asking for more than they'll really accept in a candidate, because otherwise there'd be more "no experience required" postings. They must be hiring some unexperienced people, right? Otherwise, where does all the experience in the candidates they hire come from?

@oliveTalker7352 Take a moment and pause -- think about any extracurricular activities or volunteer work you may have done and evaluate those skills too. Those are skills you can bring to an employer too -- and as PlumCity said, go ahead an apply. The HR manager may see something in you that fills the position.

If you find yourself terribly in need of a skill that your lacking -- try finding it in a volunteer position while you are hunting -- 2-3 hours a week, nothing big if you don't want -- to pick up the skill.

Don't give up -- keep applying. Good luck!
