When I was little, I thought I could wish away the sadness.
@amifree
When I was in my teens, I was very sad that my dad died when I was 5, and it seemed like everyone else had a father. Then I found out, as I grew older, that he had molested my sisters. Then, I was grateful that I had never experienced that. Sadness can go away with knowledge.
That I was always in the way.

Sometimes, parents just don't realize what they are doing. They get so wrapped up in day-to-day living (sometimes in misery because of a bad job, or relationship) that they are barely making it, mentally. I'm sorry you felt like you were in the way. Your parent(s) just probably didn't have the skills to be good parents - it wasn't YOU! You have a ton of potential, simply because you are human and on this earth. Do better! Find your gifts, and use them. Make others happy, to feel important. But never, ever, feel like you are less!
Well, I believed several odd things. I spent a large part of my childhood believing I wasn't human. My old friends used to joke that I was "half-feral" when I met them. I was convinced I wasn't human, that I wasn't supposed to be human. I thought I was secretly part cat or wolf, and that there was a magical kingdom of creatures like me that would come and rescue me on my 12th birthday, and I would be the queen. I thought my pet cat and my brother's pet cat would be the ones to take me away. I also thought their mom was an evil spy of that kingdom, for some reason. I was never mean to her because of it though, I just didn't discuss my "escape plans" around her. xD I used to actually growl at people when I got angry, and I would walk on all fours sometimes. I could do fantastic impressions of the various sounds wolves and cats make. I used to get these urges to chase and catch small things like squirrels, insects, or rabbits, because I thought that was just what I was born to do. Funnily enough, I never really wanted to eat any of those things like an animal would though. I did manage to capture several grasshoppers and dragonflies in my hands. However, my old best friend and I were never able to catch any rabbits with our bare hands. I'm actually glad that we didn't. I doubt that would have ended well. Honestly, if it weren't for my friends, I would probably still be a very animalistic person. I spent the portion of my childhood before I moved to where they were alone in my house, with my pet kittens and their mother cat. Anyway, I also believed that my drawings and toys had souls as a kid, and I believed that my pets could understand what I was saying. I still have this one tiny stuffed cat that I always saw as a sibling/parental figure. I used to hold that toy cat when I felt lonely, and I would talk to it about all of my problems. I told that stuffed cat, Julianna, more things than I told my parents or my friends. Sometimes I would make up things Juliana would "say" in my head, to convince myself that we could communicate telipathically. xD Additionally, I believed that if I didn't take care of my toys, then the "angry ones" would turn on me and attack me. As you can see, I had a very vivid imagination.
@TheBoxingGoldfish Holy **** that's EXACTLY what I used to do, and sometimes, still do! The growling, the half-feral thing, believing you're not your mother's child and instead being a creature of the wild... Everything! Even the toys!! I can't believe this!! I honestly can't believe this!
@Cloudydragon Woah, what a weird coincidence! I'm honestly suprised there's someone else like I was out there! Well, it's nice to know I'm not alone in my experiences.
i belived when i was little that my stuff animals came alive, and would move around just like the movie toy story so i would pose them before i would leave my room in a certain way, that way if they moved any way while i was gone, i knew they came alive!
I thought happy endings exist...but i was wrong
@serendipity1707
No, you weren't wrong. You just haven't had one yet, apparently. What makes you happy? Sometimes, we aren't happy because we have no goal, and we don't know when we have reached it. Or, our goal was the wrong one, or the wrong job, or the wrong person. Decide what you want, and go for it! If you still aren't happy, figure out why and reset your goal. You will get there. It took me many, many years...but I am happier now than ever before. And I'm not done, so I can't really tell you about a happy ending, :) , but I'm looking forward to one!
I believed that all the other children were dumb and I was superior. I had facts and proof that Santa was NOT real. They didn't believe me.
When i was little I thought that everyone lived in caves, except me I know that was really dumb...
@bluePlum1426
That's a good one! Hahaha! At least you had a perceptual advantage! Thanks for sharing.
...that I would become special to someone who could save me.
That my sister was the favorite & i was the hated child.
Well... I always had a deep love for the ocean and marine life (still do), but then I saw the movie Deep Blue Sea. I believed that a shark was going to somehow come up through the drain and eat me. My mom had to fight me to get into the tub. Now that I look back, that was comedy
