i really believed that the people i watched on television (movies, shows) really die and i would cry... its crazy, my mom never corrected me!! lol
I believed I was special even though I was so different and so alienated from my peers. I believed the imagination was a far better world to live in than reality where I didn't belong. I believed maybe-- just maybe-- if I wished hard enough on enough stars, prayed hard enough, tried hard enough-- just maybe one day a girl would discover me. She would recognize my special qualities and they would stand out more to her than my flaws. She would fall in love with me for the person I am and all the things that make me so different, so unusual, so abnormal.
To this day, in my 30s, I'm still very much the same little boy I was all those years inside. A boy with a teddy bear heart. And while I still want all those things I wanted as a kid-- while I still know that the imagination is a far better world for me and that reality is just a depressing abyss, I have zero reason to believe I will ever have what I want. I don't belong in this world. I am a misfit.

Wow, I found myself here. Beautifully said. Thank you.
@Faure thank you for sharing. im glad i can find people on this site who relate.
@nuitnoire42
That is indeed nice to find one is not the only one with such observations. I always preferred the world of books and music over that cut throat reality, which I was alienated from an early age on. I guess I am lucky being a musician, so escaping the daily s.it is part of my job.
@Faure I know exactly how you feel about unplugging from the daily clockwork merry-go-round- artistic creativity is about constructing your own private reality a safe haven of the imaginable untouched by the predictable pain and dulling drudgery of mundane monotony, all the heartache and rejection from those who don't understand who don't care to understand who will turn you down every time for someone easier to understand. my escape is through my writing and i was so immersed in this story project till a couple months ago i hit a wall. the depression bug bit me yet again and its leeching my creative life source from my veins and now i don't know how to escape the pain every day is listlessness and wasting away hoping the Muse will rekindle me and fire up the neurons or a miraculous godsend will spill through the cracks of my fractured mind that can't find its outlet for a slight dose of solace so long as its holed up and straitjacketed stiff and sterile coffined inside this comatose cocoon cankering day by day all this pain and deadness i just want to pray away i can only hope and pray
Fairytales
i used to think i couldn't take care of myself...
Hot dogs were a dog's you-know-what. Seriously. I don't remember who told me that, but I still stay away from hot dogs.
Growing up into this world would be easy, then to eventually find out how difficult it would be.
That I needed others.
Fairies,
I believed in Fairies and always wanted to look for them, despite the fact i couldn't.
I believed in myself, which is really something I hope eventually we can all start doing again.
All grandparents only offered Fig Newtons as their cookies of choice.
@JustAnotherPersonOn7Cups
My grandpa used to give us cookies all the time, never fig Newton's though. Lol :-D
@Quietman4875
There were occasionally real cookies...I first discovered the true feeling of disapointment while confusing oatmeal raisin cookies with chocolate chip.
@JustAnotherPersonOn7Cups
Haha I think I might have did the same thing when I was a kid.I think it must be a grandparents job to spoil their grandkids with treats.
