Can a therapist really help me when my issues are 95% politics-related?

On reddit,I have been told repeatedly to get help..and it looks like they are tired of me.
So,I wonder, can a therapist help me when my issues are related to politics/fear about the state of the country?

Is a therapist even equipped to broach politics?

Because,it looks like my last hope is to see a shrink.

I'm not gonna lie and say I feel hurt:My concerns get thrown out,I got banned from 8 subreddits, and I'm attracting trolls like vultures to a dead body.

I had no idea that a.I'm not supposed to give a shit, and b. my concerns were that damn irrelevant.

It wounds me so much :'(

@ADX98927 I have no professional experience, but I do think a therapist can help.

I think there are also some things you can do on your own.

Look at how you feel after engaging in certain activities. Some things will likely help relieve stress, some things you may not find to be healthy.

How do you feel after participating in reddit threads?

How much time in a day do you focus on political topics?

Even things that can be helpful with making a change, you may need to decide if it's worth the stress that it does cause you. LIke if you campaign for a politican that might not be the best thing for you, you would have to figure that out.

@ADX98927 I agree with @AffyAvo. Any of the therapists I know could help you with this kind of situation, where you have very serious political concerns but other people don't respond to your concerns seriously.

However, I would also suggest that there seem to be many inexperienced therapists around who are only able to deal with simple depression and anxiety. Therapists whose skills are limited in this way might struggle to find ways to help when politics are involved. So I think it's possible you might have to choose your therapist carefully, or try more than one in order to find one you can relate to.
