Hi, I'm Karla. I joined last week because my depression became very overwhelming and I don't really have a support system. I'm struggling with the end of a relationship and loneliness in general.
@thebee35 Welcome, Karla. I am also struggling with a break up. I am sorry for your pain and hope you will find comfort in this community. I'm rooting for you!
@Tazzie hi I'm Bri ☺️
Well, I'm entirely new and googled a search for peer support and online counseling.
I'm doing, well, probably the same as I've been doing for a year, if not a little worse. I would say I have some depression, anxiety and general sadness.
On January 1, 2019 I broke up with my ex of 7 years because we lived together for 6 years, I proposed early on and it never went much further. She is Korean American and I am Mexican American. She spent all her time with me and my family but I never met her family, ever in all those years.
I felt ashamed, as if she was embarrased of me. As the years went on, I think I became more bitter and grew resentment towards her family and essentially (without me knowing) just slowly started grinding down our relationship making it harder and harder to actually hve something good.
I gave up because things just hurt and hurt more every day and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. She tried desperately for months to fix us and talk reason but all I did was drink and be sad.
Months after being apart I started understanding what she meant in our fights. I started understanding what she was trying to say (she wasn't a great communicator and I was not listening). She knows she has issues but I basically pretended I didn't. Since 17 I had never been single for over a month and I'm 42 now. I've been single for over a year and a half because I realize, I don't really know who I am and if I will just destroy the next thing.
I have a successful corporate job. I am educated and I'm even ok to look at. I make people laugh in real life. I solve people's problems for a living. I can't figure out how to fix my own. I feel broken and like I missed my life opportunities studying, working and doing for others and never growing myself personally.
Recap, I'm 42, UCLA BA, Wharton MBA, ex-wife, 1 child (with her), ex-gf of 7 years. I spent all my time with people always trying to gain validation. My family loves my brother, they like me. I feel like I've been trying to validate my whole life... and I get crushed when people I love, support and validate... don't do it for me. Over and over and over again.
I hate myself at this point. I just spend my life volunteering hoping to help others have a decent life because I don't think I'm destined for one filled with emotional happiness.
That's... my story.
@RinseRepeatFail
I totally get what you mean by trying to validate your whole life. I've always felt outshined by my brother and sister. So, I shrunk myself even more. I feel invisible most days.
@RinseRepeatFail wow. I think you've done pretty Great.
@RinseRepeatFail I'm sorry to hear that. I think everyone deserves a chance at happiness.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
The name's Lucas, and I've consideret giving this a try while I wait painfully patiently for some intervention from the psychiatric department.
My state of mind would be, as you could've guessed fairly poor; so I'm here to try and ease my anxiety in any way possible. Anxiety is normal, and can even be helpful; I'm talking about the kind of anxiety that extends beyond the sense of normality.
I downloaded and explored this app years ago. At that time my sanity regarding anxiety was, as one would call it, at normal levels; as any other person would experience it and handle it. I wish it'd be the same at this time, but I'm getting quite worried over my current predicament.
Anyways, that's my introduction. I hope you all have a decent day, at least, and take care during these trying times.
Kind regards.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
Name's Lucas and life's being quite rough, I'm afraid; as one could've guessed, considering being recruited to this community. I'm here in hopes to find some assistance with my anxiety while I patiently wait for some kind of psychiatric intervention, which I've requested. I'm defining anxiety here as the kind of anxiety that extends the boundaries of what one would consider normal.
I can't really tell how I heard about this community. I downloaded the 7 Cups of Tea app years ago, out of curiosity. 'Tis not until now where I'm using it for the use of requiring aid.
Well, that's my introduction. I wish you all a good day, evening or night; and take in these troubling times.
Kind regards.
@SirWaltalot
Hey I hope you you're doing great. Feel free to chat anytime🙂
Stay strong @SirWaltalot
@SirWaltalot I hope you are doing well. Thanks for being brave and sharing your current situation.
Hey!
I just joined because Im just kind of ... stressed. A lot. And I don't think it's normal. I'd just really like to get some support. Especially since summer has started and I feel like I should be doing more. But I'm always scared that I will do something wrong. I was feeling pretty good before the social distancing but now it seems like everything I tried to deal with before comes to bite me again. Sometimes I feel better and sometimes I feel worse. Ive never really tried to find any kind of help so I do feel a little scared too. :)
Hello, newbie here due to anxiety and depression. Thought it would be good to write out things for people to listen. First conversation with a listener was good and I felt somewhat validated on my concerns that just keep festering. I know that this is not an easy time for a lot of us, but I hope that together we can support each other to a better time and place. Thank you all.
Hi,
I don't really have much to say yet. Just trying to find a group of supportive people to lean on and help me be my best 😊
Hello, everybody
Just someone who kind of suffered a bit of a meltdown and finally decided to try and talk it out. I'm not quite sure of what my reasons are for being here. I guess it's overall anxiety and depression. So, I'm just looking forward to feeling better, and finally figuring out what these weird feelings are all about.
So there's my [pretty awkward] introduction.
Best wishes to you all. Cheers.
L.
