Being Labelled

Tw: Mentions of being labelled, society issues, positive outlook, open discussion, questions and topic sensitive

Good morning precious warriors! Now that the trigger warning has been placed, I wanted to share my thoughts on something that I feel personally does not get vocalized and it's called Being labelled, the reason I wanted to have this open discussion is because I enjoy seeing the different views on what other women think about how society influences the women population on certain things.

As young little girls, we were always taught that the colors pink, purple and anything bright was for girls. Along with being paraded around in a dress, skirt and enormous bows in our hair. An that anything doll related was for girls, and even baby dolls. Then as growing teens, we were coached into believing that being too confident, outspoken on anything regarding disrespect in anyway or simply saying "No" was controversial and a problem. Labelling us "Problematic" or " too difficult" to be around, which is far from true.

As adults that are now moms, or just thriving being independently single or even married, we are still conformed in a way to partial society judgement. As a single woman you are expected to just let people do whatever and say whatever at anytime. As a mother you are expected to just do everything with no breaks or time for yourself, which again is far from true. Mother's are individuals outside of being a parent, we should be allowed to do as we please as long as our children are fed, happy, healthy and thriving is all that should be looked at, of course the labels will come of " absent minded", "not good enough" or " self-centered" these remarks are far from true. An mothers that are single momming you are doing amazing. or those that have step-up dads for your children you did the right thing by either walking away or even cutting contact with the bio. No one should have access to your children if they disrespect you, because if they can disrespect you easy, they will do it your child(ren) too.

Granted as women, we have paved a significant change for ourselves throughout the years, but that still does not stop those that think in past and live by past mindsets. Those that are single have high expectations from those around them to do certain things a certain way, and those that are married are expected to do things the same way their parents did before, them and none of this is true.

As a woman, being labelled by society is hard because it does cause a lot of self-esteem problem. Being a woman comes with so much mental and emotional strength, because I feel that some men do not understand how controversial being confident, outspoken or even creative can be for us. An that is okay, we were not born to please anyone, we were not born to satisfy anyone's needs unless reciprocated back, or taking care of child(ren) if any are involved. Never let the words of those that are imposing on your image, bother or bring you down because you shine on your own regardless. You are worth everything, you deserve everything, continue to be the warrior queen that you are!

@InsightfulPhoenix Good morning! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this important topic. It's something that isn't often vocalized but deeply affects many of us, society's expectations and labels can be so restrictive and hurtful.

@InsightfulPhoenix

Hey beautiful souls! 🌸

Just stumbled upon this post and felt the need to spill my thoughts on being labelled. First off, major kudos for bringing up such an important topic! As a teenage girl, it hits close to home, and I've got some feels on this.

Growing up, it's like we're handed a script on how to be a girl - pink, purple, dresses, and bows. But guess what? Life's a canvas, and we're the artists. No one gets to dictate the colors we use or the strokes we make.

Then, bam, teenage years hit, and suddenly being confident and saying "No" is a problem? Excuse me, but I didn't sign up for that nonsense. "Problematic" and "difficult"? Nah, just call it being fiercely true to ourselves.

Now, fast forward to adulthood, where society still tries to put us in boxes. Single? Apparently, we're supposed to be pushovers. Moms? Expected to be superheroes 24/7. Newsflash: We're individuals with our own lives, dreams, and boundaries. Single moms, you're slaying it! And to those judging, take several seats.

Sure, we've made strides, but there's still this outdated mindset lurking around. Singles are supposed to fit one mold, and married folks are expected to follow tradition. Ugh, can we ditch the expectations and just let people live?

Being labelled messes with our self-esteem, but here's the truth bomb - we're strong, confident, and very creative. Some might not get it, and that's okay. We're not here to please anyone but ourselves. And ladies, if someone's words are bringing you down, remember you're a shining star in your own galaxy. You're worth it all.

Let's keep being those warrior queens, breaking free from labels, and living our truth. 💪✨ Much love to all the incredible souls reading this! 🌈💖

@tranquilechoes, You are welcome to bring this up. Being labeled is hardly ever brought up or mentioned, as how it affected us, Women. As a child, we are allowed to choose what we wear within reason. As teenagers, we need guidance not assertion, because what most parents fail to realize at that stage is that is the stage we learn about how our partners in the future are supposed to treat us.

Then we fall into whatever pattern or cycle, and we have to find ways out of it. I 100% agree with you that confidence is not a problem and should never be and for us as adults… We should be able to live our lives the best we can because we are human and not to get too much into detail my husband has to learn that the hard way himself. Of course, he didn't and doesn't expect anything of me, but he does from time to time, try to prioritize his things over mine and say things out of frustration that are hurtful. Of course, I have my moments too so I won't paint myself as perfect, but society has taught men that their needs are more important than a woman's needs in a relationship or even a marriage, which sadly majority ends in divorce. We should be helping each other out as a whole not hurting each other just because society says this or that. thank you for bringing up your view it was refreshing 💕💕

Thanks for your post. :)

I would also just like to add that sometimes it's even harder to deal with the labeling because, believe it or not, sometimes other women label and perpetuate harmful stereotypes of how women should act and be in society.

For instance In my experience, I have seen more women than men belittle other women who decide to not have children and it's just such a sad and anger-inducing thing to see.

@InsightfulPhoenix

Thank you bruh for this :) I needed it now!!

I try to please people not because I am a women but because it is my personality lol, but yeah I have been realizing the importance of boundaries these days, working on that, using my mind to deal with those who don't understand and disrespect boundaries, I am still not a mature one, I am too young but I am learning,  I am sure I will learn to tackle all these societal problems and I am glad my father and mother takes care of me, sometimes their ways are not right according to me but yeah they are too human, but mostly they are doing right thing! Hopefully I will be able to take over my responsibilities of tackling with society and responsibilities of taking care of them,

I will surely grow as a mature, kind and bold kid. Kind and bold are difficult to manage together for women especially but I am sure I will be able to do that!

@InsightfulPhoenix The lady in the GIF loooks like a lionness

I like your style of writing - its impactful!

Its quite a deep rooted problem with women and men being socialised differently and the expectations placed whether it be a cultural thing or growing up in a single parent household. Both father figure and mother figure are so important; don't even need to be biological figure. As long as everyone is safe.

Its particularly a shame when its women on women labels - I think at times we can attract what we ourselves are. Women are taught to keep the relationships going and to forgive cheating I would say especially if from eastern culture.

Its a tough one - with confidence sometimes those who aren't confident can be insecure in your presence , I've noticed this with women (Speaking from experience; can appreciate different experiences - ok to disagree). I think women come from more of a place of I want to be loved and men more from a place of I want to be respected - of course don't speak for all.

Women you are strong - no matter what you choose; if you are a stay at home mum, if you work, if you do or don't have a child; your situation has purpose.

Thank you for sharing your experience Phoenix

All love <3
