For me, the habit that’s helped my mental health the most is taking 5-10 minutes every morning to sit quietly without my phone; no scrolling, no music, just being. Sometimes I journal, sometimes I just sip coffee and look out the window. This quiet moment sets the tone for my day. It helps me check in with myself before the world gets loud.
It may sound simple, but it’s grounding. I’ve noticed that on days I skip it, I feel more reactive and scattered. I’d encourage you to find your own version of that calm pause whether it’s breathwork, stretching, or even mindful walking. What matters is showing up for yourself, consistently, even if just for a few minutes.

One small daily habit that helps me is setting aside time to read a book before going to sleep. This routine allows me to avoid using my phone and focus solely on the book. It helps me relax my mind and body, and it also enhances the quality of my sleep. Reading is soothing, and when my sleep quality improves, my mental health benefits as well. I recommend that you establish a small routine before bed to calm your mind and relax.

I think the habit that has helped my mental wellness the most is my bedtime routine. I used to just throw myself into bed, day clothes and all, into my bed at the end of the day and expect to sleep. Then I created my bedtime routine and it is EVERYTHING to me! I keep the room very clean and relaxing by doing most things OUTSIDE of my room. I created a very peaceful and serene atmosphere. I have my scent pod set to come on at 6 and start to fragrance my room with a peaceful lavender and chamomile mix. I change into pajamas at 8, make a cup of tea, turn down the lights, and do something relaxing like catching up with a book or a knitting project. I ease into my bed knowing this is my time to relax and recharge. Making this a relaxing time to look forward during the day helps me finish whatever tasks I have to get done that day.

Something small that helps many people is building a moment of calm into the day. It can be something very simple, like sitting quietly for two minutes, taking a few steady breaths, or doing something familiar that feels grounding. What makes this powerful is not the size of the habit but the consistency of giving your mind a little space to reset. Over time, even this small act can create a sense of stability during stressful moments. It can also help you feel a bit more in control of your emotional landscape. Different things work for different people, so part of the process is noticing what helps you feel more centered. You deserve routines that support you gently without adding pressure. Even tiny acts of care can lead to meaningful changes in overall well-being.

Something small but it really reframes the way I look at life is looking at the small picture. Let me explain. Suppose I am left out one day at a ceremony by my classmates or one particular day no one talks to me. Instead of thinking "oh great. This is always what happened. I am always left out. I am always the one to be excluded" I think "Well thats weird maybe they will change their behaviour tomorrow. anyway lets move on". I try to look at life from a joking and not so serious lens. Taking the small things and looking at it as part of a bigger pattern in life can cause negativity for me. Instead I intentionally isolate smaller instances and take it in a joking way. This has really made me so positive and reduced so much of my stress

Reading the bible scripture. There are many themes you can explore in relation to yourself. Many of the foods that are good to eat are, interestingly, mentioned in the Bible. Always eat your greens because you are what you eat.
I also learned that words can be medicine or poison. If someone is cursing you, do not curse them back; instead, bless and pray for them.
Good thoughts manifest out of a good attitude. No matter how disrespectful someone is, it actually isn't about you. Set boundaries and keep going - no emotionally escalated response, and this will give peace.

Honestly, even something tiny like taking 5 minutes to pause and check in with myself has helped a lot. Some days that means journaling, listening to music, cuddling my dog, or just reminding myself I survived another hard day. My mom used to say “it’s just a bump in the road,” and I still carry that with me now. Small habits don’t magically fix everything, but they can make life feel a little less heavy over time.

For me, what's been most helpful is honestly just to take some time out of your day to do something you enjoy, especially when you're encountering something painful or frustrating. For example, when I'm working on a project that needs to get done soon and something's just not working out, it's easy to just work on it for hours and hours on end with no breaks. But that's emotionally exhausting and can lead to frustration, anger, and burnout. Instead, it's important to take a break and do something you enjoy, even if it's just taking a walk and listening to a podcast, or going for a drive and singing along to the radio. That way, each night I can reflect on my day and think, "I enjoyed that part of my day."

Something that has helped me in just trying to be present and not overthinking about what someone said. Or focusing on how I should have reacted in a situation. I feel we dwell on these things too much and cause ourselves unnecessary pain and suffering. The best method I've found is to sit with my eyes closed and focus on the air entering and leaving my nostrils and not getting worried if I get distracted by thoughts.
