...See more Our wedding song and it still applies today, and she won’t talk to me or let me talk to her. I am so sad and lonely. True Companion Marc Cohn Baby, I've been searching like everybody else Can't say nothing different about myself Sometimes I'm an angel and sometimes I'm cruel And when it comes to love, I'm just another fool Yes, I'll climb a mountain I'm gonna swim the sea There ain't no act of God, girl Could keep you safe from me My arms are reaching out Out across this canyon I'm asking you to be my true companion True companion True companion So don't you dare and try to walk away I've got my heart set on our wedding day I've got this vision of a girl in white Made my decision that it's you alright When I take your hand I'll watch my heart set sail I'll take my trembling fingers And I'll lift up your veil Then I'll take you home And with wild abandon Make love to you just like a true companion You are my true companion I got a true companion Oh, a true companion When the years have done irreparable harm I can see us walking slowly arm in arm Just like that couple on the corner do, 'cause Girl I will always be in love with you When I look in your eyes I'll still see that spark Until the shadows fall Until the room grows dark Then when I leave this Earth I'll be with the angels standin' I'll be out there waiting for my true companion Just for my true companion True companion True companion

...See more Follow up to Bringing Others Down Spouse abandonment, bankruptcy, broke, truck breakdown on interstate with Doberman. Breakdown en route to my birthday dinner. All along wishing we could reconcile. This was a lot and two days after my birthday I was at rock bottom. Parts were back ordered for my truck. No parts locally either. I’m 800 miles from home in my future town with my son, daughter and grandchildren living in a travel trailer. RV life is predominantly a middle aged to elderly endeavor where the couple works like a well oiled machine. That was my wife and I. On this given morning I was at rock bottom. I needed a break but it wasn’t coming. I decided to rent a car but I couldn’t rent with a debit card. This is when I decided to reach out. Out of respect for our privacy I stayed off FB and so did my wife. I have a no contact order. But I reached out in faith and did a brief prayer request on FB. That really was symbolic of me giving in and showing vulnerability. It was also a risk that my Wife might take it the wrong way. I had no anger at her whatsoever for the breakdown. You see she didn’t approve of a truck replacement. But that doesn’t matter it is in the past. New trucks breakdown too. I let it be. Two hours after that prayer request I got a call from the dealership that they have the part and the truck will be ready today. Two days passed before the prayer request, two hours after the request my life changed dramatically. I’m religious but I’m not pushing that here. My point is don’t be afraid to admit to yourself that you need help and reach out to your higher power, friends, therapists, or all of the above. You don’t have to fight your fight alone. I was very alone, stranded, broke, and very sad and lonely. I asked for help from my FB friends and the Lord. God responded in great fashion. That’s not all. I received a post on my feed that read: The truth is, l'll always love you. No matter what happens, I will never hate you. You could break me into a million pieces, and I'd still love you. You hold a part of my heart that no one else could ever take. My love for you is unconditional, and it will always remain, no matter what. I told that very thing in slightly different words to family when my wife left me. Then it appears after my prayer request was answered. I never felt so blessed in all my life. Only my truck was fixed, everything else was rubble but I still was Overwhelmed with faith and positive energy. Ask your people for help when you need it.

...See more I’m 62 and I just spent my birthday with my two sons, 38 and 35. Due to My circumstances, I am coping with Abandonment, Loneliness, Depression, Grief, And anxiety. I hadn’t seen my oldest son since the abandonment occurred. he came in from Nevada and I tried to warn him that I’m not the same that I was last time he saw me. I have been drastically changed into a person. I don’t recognize. I had a wonderful time with my sons, but my visits were not without anxiety attacks and bouts of crying. They both always gave me great support, good advice, and lots of love and hugs very last day my oldest called me late at night spoke to me for over an hour and to my great disappointment I unintentionally inflicted my pain on him. He was crying and felt so bad that I was in so much pain in my life has been changed so drastically without warning I knew they were affected by their stepmother, abandoning them as well, and I always tried to be sympathetic and understanding. Try not to overload them with details however we’re all best friends and we have no secrets. My oldest helped me through a very difficult birthday as my other son had to work a 24 hour shift that day. My son was thoughtful, honest and even sometimes blunt. He seemed like he had a pretty good handle on things until the phone call by the end of the phone call. We both leveled out on not even plane. It brought me so much pain and grief, knowing my inability to cope with my issues cause my son great pain. I wish I could turn the clock back and somehow try harder to not be me. However, you see my son’s and I have a wonderful relationship.. we don’t put on shows we don’t fake being OK. We speak our minds with honesty and respect and we help each other get to where we have to be. I did that by the end of the phone call and I became the strong father that my son needs I assured him daddy won’t fail because failure is not an option, and I will improvise adapt and overcome, no matter what the situation because I will wind up on top. This is what My oldest son needed to hear before he went back to Nevada. I told him I can’t reach the peaks without going through the valleys, and I have to allow my body to feel the climate in the valleys. I promised him I will work through this no matter what.So how do we keep from hurting the ones we love with the truth of our weaknesses?

...See more I loved my marriage and life and felt very blessed. I am a person who likes control and planning. I had my retirement planned which included my wife, children, and grandkids. All that has just went up in a cloud of smoke and my marriage is over and my plans are gone. How do you all focus on the beauty of the good moments of the present and the prospects of a better tomorrow? Just this morning I said out loud to myself, “This is a good morning and it will be a great day. Tomorrow will be good too.” I also said out loud that I can’t control the future right now and the past is gone so I better learn how to do this. Then my truck broke down and I’m at my friends garage all day. I am really trying here but I am not doing well.

...See more You might have read some of this before, need to vent…Most therapy that is available is considered spouse abandonment when a husband abandons a wife. However, the results and impact are the same when a wife abandons their husband. I was happily married for 25 years and had absolutely no clue that my wife was planning on leaving me. She went to work one day and just never came home. Then came the no contact order of protection. So she was gone I couldn’t talk to her and I had no idea why. It didn’t take long for me to find out. It was because she was handling finances for our whole marriage. We are now totally broke and bankrupt and have no money in the house to sell to retire for our retirement plans. I cannot even describe the pain and destruction this created in my soul. It literally killed my soul and for two months I’ve been walking around empty inside. I am partially disabled from head to toe. I have been retired for 14 years. Year after year, I’ve had to give up one thing or another and as that occurred I became closer and closer to my best friend, my wife. My retirement plans included her 24 seven. To say that I am lost and have no direction would be a severe understatement. Nothing I used to enjoy before do I enjoy now. My world is empty. My future is empty because I have not only no wife no best friend no companion, but I have no money and no credit. I have had to leave it in God‘s hands to help me day by day. I have no friends that are not joint with her and everyone loves her as I do. I have no local support group. One son is 800 miles away where I go and visit where I plan on retiring. My other son is 2700 miles away.I experience anxiety attacks frequently and breathing exercises help. How do others cope with this type of abandonment?

...See more Hello Everyone, I’m 61 years old and was very happily married for 25 years. Two months ago my wife just didn’t come home from work with no explanation whatsoever. Later the police arrived with court papers, an order of protection (no contact whatsoever), and the confiscation of all my firearms.  The next day I discover that I’m broke, bankrupt, and soon to be homeless. Two days earlier we put an offer on a retirement home in Kentucky. That apparently was the final straw that our financial situation would be discovered. You see, my wife had done 100% of the finances and mail collection since we were married. I would never have thought she would leave me no matter what. She I was my best friend, wife, companion etc. All of our friends are mutual friends and I have no desire to see them and talk about my wife or the situation. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandkids live in Kentucky. My other son lives in Lake Tahoe. They are very supportive of me. I have other family too all far away. It’s Easiest to say I exhibit all severe signs of stress and anxiety minus suicidal thoughts. I don’t know what I need other than help from people who have been there. My family is great but they don’t know what to say. This is just a brief snapshot of the bigger picture. I love my wife, I want her back if that’s what she wants. The financial situation exists whether we are apart or together. I choose together. Unfortunately, I have a no contact order in place.  Well, I think I’ve said enough for now. I’ll be trying to navigate this app for now.  Thanks for listening.
