Friend advice

...See more Hello, you may know me as the person who had been having troubles trying to talk to their online friend about a conflict. Just yesterday, we talked things out and agreed to keep being friends (but I did tell them I’d have to get used to it again) but that’s where my new problem is. I know it was just yesterday and maybe that’s apart of the issue but part of me wonders why I’m still so annoyed whenever they type or talk to any other of our friends. I often find myself wondering ‘..Geez. They’re always online, don’t they have anything better to do? Don’t they have school?’ And I’m aware this is a negative train of thinking but I don’t know how to get rid of it. ***, a small part of me is still hoping they don’t invite them to the friend server I’ve mentioned before. I guess I’m just asking if there’s any advice for getting over this feeling or if I’m just going have to ‘wait it out’, ‘it will heal over time’

Help with online friend group conflict

...See more I’m apart of a big online friend group and recently we had someone who left join back(as only back within a few hours of me writing this).  Due to several past events, I am not close with this person and frankly, part of me wishes that they had permanently left the friend group due to these incidents. Part of me is annoyed at seeing everyone get out their ‘welcome back’ messages for someone who left without a word and I know I don’t have to get along with the but at the very least I have to tolerate them.  The problem is I don’t know how to tolerate them  without being mean and so I choose not to say anything to them at all which I think makes everything worse. My biggest fear(?) right now is that they’re going to join one of the friend group servers they’re not currently in which I see as a break from them. I fear they’re going to join that too and then I’ll be stuck dealing with them.  I have them blocked but would it be too blunt to dm them straight up saying/explaining why I don’t want to interact with them anymore? Any advice? Also preferably, I’d rather not any answers like ‘talk it out’ given I tried that and it didn’t work.

Weird Stalemate

...See more I guess this is a weird stalemate? Giving some background context for any new readers: For months now, I’ve been at conflict with an online friend named Orange stemming from various issues that started due to a campaign he’s hosting. Recently, we are on good terms again but I can’t help but feel as if we’re still walking on eggshells.  Admittedly, part of me is still incredibly annoyed about his campaign. Nearly all our friends are in this campaign and the reason I’m not is due to several reasons including: * Currently on bad terms with the co-dm * Repeated scheduling with my character * Lack of communication regarding scheduling mentioned above (He failed to inform me my character introduction would be delayed by an  entire act (3 sessions each) The overall mess led me to drop out of the campaign due to how it felt like I was being repeatedly mistreated compared to our other friends in the campaign. The issue bothering me the most tonight is that he mentioned they have another campaign tomorrow (I’m primarily annoyed at the last second reminder. This is the night before it takes place).  These days, I don’t know why I’m still so upset at the mention of his campaign.  I’m not in it nor do I plan on being in it(at least not until things get better or we properly talk about it) so why do I feel so upset when I hear them talking about when the next session is? Why do I feel so upset when they talk about it in our voice calls? I thought the primary answer is FOMO and maybe it is but all that leads me into is: How do I get over it? The only solutions I’ve discovered are either ignoring it or distracting myself but both actions only last for so long. I even tried switching my accounts on session days just so I don’t have to see them online but that’s not doing a lot of work either. Any advice or support would be appreciated. If you need any clarification let me know in the comments.

My mom treats me being non-binary like it’s a privilege

...See more Hi, my first time posting here. I hope this goes well. I knew I was non-binary in eighth grade(I’m in college now) and unfortunately when I was in my freshmen year, I was outed to my mom. Luckily, she took it well, only really upset that I didn’t tell her or feel ‘safe’ enough to tell her but in reality, I didn’t want to. Cut to present time, I’ve noticed that whenever my mom is upset or annoyed with me, she uses my dead name instead of my actual name. Most of the time she mutters it but it still hurts as I feel she views my name more as a privilege that can be taken away than what I actually am. I don’t want to say she’s doing it on purpose but it doesn’t stop how hurt I feel whenever she does do it. Does she really she me as non-binary?

...See more It’s a silly reason to be upset but I need to get it off my mind somewhere before I fall asleep or o fear it will keep me up.  Lately, I’ve been offering to stream games to friends but I noticed that whenever I make the offer, no one responds! At first I thought, ‘Are they ignoring me?’ But weirdly enough, they respond to other comments and questions I make not relating to that stream.  At first I tried to let it go but tonight hurt me specifically. I made the offer to stream and no one responded. I was a little upset but thought ‘oh! maybe they’re busy?’ but then I noticed that when someone else said they’re were going to join VC and just chill, two of our friends instantly join the call.  To start off, it doesn’t help that I’m on bad terms with this person (you may know who from my previous posts here) so their actions overall annoy me but it makes me more upset/ignored that no one responded to my streaming request but turned around and joined a call on impulse.  To clarify, I’m not mad at them for joining the call, I’m mad they never responded to my stream asks. All I want is a simple yes or no from them! Is that so hard to ask for? I even tried streaming in the other channel anyways and no one joined mine but someone who left the first one joined back the first one. I didn’t even get comments in the ‘no mic’ channels we have. Nothing. I ended up leaving the server for the night out of frustration. Maybe I’ll be back tomorrow or the day after that. Maybe it was a childish thing I did on impulse but it just upset me greatly.

...See more What do I do? If you’ve seen my last few posts, you may already guess this post is related to my ex-friend, Orange. As much as I don’t want to, I feel like I’m going to have to talk to him if I want to at least *tolerate* him for the sake of the friend group. Not necessarily liking him but just having to deal with him essentially. The biggest problem is that I’m still too stubborn. I’ve tried to talk about my feelings many times and each time he repeated the same behavior or said he would change only to not do so. The only time he made an effort is when I blocked him which made me wonder why I have to block you for you to change. Then when I unblocked him because I thought things were getting better, he turns around and repeats the same behavior eventually leading to me ending the friendship (and him acting Buddy-Buddy towards me even after I said I wanted nothing to do with him). I had to message him again asking him to leave me alone which I felt should’ve explained itself. The reason why I’ve had him blocked for so long this time is because honestly? I want him to reach out this time. I want him to apologize. If he wants to make any effort saving this friendship, shouldn’t he be the one to apologize? The other part is because we met through a roleplay server and since this group has been around for so long, Orange and I have character connections from before our argument that we stopped doing as much because of this. Weirdly enough, I miss those connections more than I do our actual friendship. If not worth it for the friendship, at least so others don’t have to struggle with our connection. But at the same time, I wonder if it’s worth swallowing my pride and just talking to him. Not like I have anything else to lose from it, right? Or do I just stay in this cycle of waiting for him to reach out first?

How do I break this bad habit?
OCD & Related Behaviors / by persistentWatermelon5322

...See more Correct me if I’m wrong and I believe it may be OCD related but does anyone else repeatedly check if their friends are online? I’m aware this is an unhealthy habit but I don’t know how to break it. I’ve tried checking in intervals and it’s worked for only a short time before being messed up again. Even distractions like games don’t last long before I feel the urge to check again. Often times I also notice I feel annoyed or ignored if I’m specifically waiting on them to respond to something I said only to have nothing. Worst part is sometimes I even check on the online status of a person I’m no longer friends with and I get annoyed if I see them online at all. This increases if I see both them and my other friend(s) online since I think they’re hanging out without me.

...See more I wish I could go back to last year. Things were fine last year.  This year? It feels like everything is falling apart and I can’t do anything about it. Starting off, there’s online friend group drama that started in June and is still going. You may be able to grab the context from my last posts but one thing that annoys me lately is how even when I told our mutual friend about it all, including the breaching boundaries thing, they still act Buddy-Buddy towards my ex-friend. It makes me feel betrayed—I don’t want them to pick sides but I wish they at least didn’t act so buddy-Buddy or invite them into places I’m in without asking how I feel first. Second, my parents are divorcing and my mom has wanted to move out for awhile now. I want to stay in my childhood home but it was never a choice. Third, I failed my midterms and now I think im going to fail my first year of college. I didn’t even want to go to college. I don’t know what I wanted to do—I didn’t think I’d make it to 18 and now I have to deal with all of this.
