Hi, I'm 45. I've been married for 28 years, and at the end of this year it will be 29. I am preparing for a new job and a divorce at the same time.

@unassumingOwl5768

Good luck, I'm 52, hate my "career", in a 31 year marriage which has been killed by her for 5 years. Scared out of my wits of divorce. Maybe I can gain the strength to proceed by watching others.

Why would you want to meet them? They are very busy dealing with their midlife crisis...😉

I recently turned 41. Despite having a great husband, whom I consider my best friend (and in some ways feels like my only friend), Ive never felt more alone. Hes considerably older and we have no children. Im constantly looking for attention from men (usually younger). Im not looking to hook up with anyone, I just (pathetically) want to feel like Im still attractive. I didnt finish college, I have a good job, but not super accomplished, an not particularly interesting, so I think the only postive thing I had going for me was that I was the ‘cute one. Now that thats nearly gone, I feel like I have nothing. I am nothing.

There is something very comforting about reading everyones posts and knowing that Im not alone in a lot of these feelings. My mom always said life is about ebbs and flows, the ying and yang. Gotta take the good with the bad. Im hoping that more good times will be coming soon.

@sociableOcean3583 each phase of life is an adventure in itself😉 in the teens we had hormonal problems which come back in our 40ies. I wouldn't be afraid of chasing after young men.

It is life, it bears on us when the time runs out and we get scared...you are not unattractive and just reach inside you and maybe you will want to danxe or hoard a lego collection or just kiss a lifeguard man on the pier...just try to be alive...40 50 or beyound is not a sentence is another chapter in the adventure of life and you are attractive as long as you want to live.

@sociableOcean3583 I am divorced but have found myself doing the same thing with younger men. I enjoy the conversation, but also the feeling that they are attracted to me. My goal is not sexual, but emotional. The thing is that their goal is normally sexual or monetary. Often I get too attached to people I had no business being attached to in the first place, which leads me to feel more lonely. what I would really like is to know that I'm attractive and worthy of attention, just by having self-confidence, but I don't.

Being in your 40s is definitely interesting...lol

3 things to introduce myself?

1) I am a Spurs Fan, but as i am from the UK thats Tottenham Hotspur.

2) I have been all over the world with my job, and had some amazing experiences.

3) I am not as clever as I think, as its taken 35+ years for me to realise that these demons I have need to be fought.

Hi there! Im Amanda, 44, from VA. Married for almost 15 years with a just turned 13 yo son. Hoping to both provide and get support. I feel like the universe has hit me with whammy after whammy this year and I need it to back off.

@Screamingwithcats - feel the same way, that too much is happening too fast with no time to process. I've tried, I'm teflon approach, the I don't care it's not my problem distraction, taking time off for me, only to be disappointed. I thought by now, at 40, I should have this life thing figured out.

Hi there -

I'm 40 almost 41. I have a great husband, and our beautiful daughter turns 5 soon. We both have stable slightly stressful jobs. Although everything looks great, I believe we both battle depression of some form. We retreat from our lives in different ways but from what I read it is a coping mechanism.

Regards,

Karen
