Say Hello! We want to meet all 40 year old members!
Im 44.
Im trying to rebuild my life from scratch after leaving a narcissist and believe I have C-PTSD from the gaslighting and other forms of covert emotional abuse. Ive struggled with anxiety and depression on and off since i was in my teens. Im forced to live with my mother who has health problems and is about to lose her job. I am currently unemployed since he sabotaged every effort i made to have my own career. My depression is coming back.
@sincereEast4964 You sound like you're in a really tough spot. I'm sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time.
How can we be of support to you? We're a caring community, and would love to help.
@ladylazarus1971 I guess it's just nice to have people my age who care.

Im 44 and going through a divorce. It is amicable, but I am learning to do life for the first time on my own in a long time. My family is all far away. I send you support for what you are going through. @sincereEast4964
I'm SC.....
Just turned 40 and always felt like I was "ahead" of my peers but now I feel like I am behind.
Lost my job for the first time in my life and have been working since I was 16.
I am single and never have been married.
@justSC woah. M in the same boat. I'm new here and I'm here trying to rebuild my life from ground zero alone.
How do you cope these days? I've tried the 'Getting unstuck' path. Have you tried that? It helps me get thru my day.
We shall forge on. One day at a time
So so sorry to hear that
Hi, I'm 42. I really want to have children but feel that time is running out. It hangs over my head every day. That's how I'm feeling today. It makes me feel incomplete. I really hate having PCOS and dealing with infertility.
Hello
Soon to be 42 year old mom of a beautiful 10 year old. I have been in a relationship for a little over 4 years and thinking about breaking up because I feel like we should be so much farther in life and I feel like hes holding me back. He has a 9 year old son who does not respect me and does not even listen to me when I tell him something. Still talks like a baby a times and I feel so angry when he comes to the house.
Yes you should break up if you don't like him or he's not treating you right you are right best things in life other people other guys

Hello hello!
Excited to read all your posts here. Thanks for having me.
Being in ones 40's is great but it's a very tricky transition to real adulthood. For me this period in life seems very exciting. I wonder really what's in store.
I'm on the 40 and single discussion too. Hope to share and hear some great ideas from you all
Hi, I'm 40, female, married, no children.
I think I'm at the lowest point of my life, things seem falling apart.
Nice to meet you all
@NobodysNothing
I feel you. This past year has been a mess for myself as well. I hope you find your way and dont feel alone <3
Hello all.
I'm Graham, a 44 year old 7Cups Psychotherapist. Happy to help with your psychotherapeutic queries. I've been practicing for about 13ish years now and have a particular soft spot for the over 35's. Being human doesnt just get easier the older you get, happiness doesnt increase with age and fear, anxiety, sadness and loneliness definately are just as raw and hard to deal with what ever age we are at.
Take heart people! You are among friends. Share your stories, tell your truths and in an atmosphere of acceptance and non judgment begin that healing journey with a community to hold your hand.
I like walking too!
Any who, I'm all yours, hit me up in any way you like, message me or reply to this thread.
Peace,
g
44. Hating life at the moment. Feeling like everything is irreparable in my kids marriage house career
@plumFig3360
hey plum, good to see you here on the forums. Take care of yourself. I don't have much feedback for you about how you are feeling, don't really know enough to give you anything meaningful and I'd rather avoid the empty cliches of "insert cliche here". Take care of yourself and I'm around if you'd like to have a 1 on 1.
Hello all,
I'm a 41 year old woman, married, no kids and two dogs. I have always dealt with some degree of depression and anxiety but it is back with a vengeance now that I've started to make a new friend (which is weird because I was desperately lonely so you'd think I'd finally feel better, right?) Trying to figure out the best place to post about all this, because all of th individual issues ar so intertwined.
Anyway glad to be here.
-Meg
@secretPlum2797 So good to meet you! You're among friends.
If you look through the Forum and don't find a category that speaks to how you feel, or what your thoughts and questions are, never hesitate to start your own thread. It's really pretty easy.
Welcome to 35+!
@secretPlum2797
hi meg, i'm new here too and still trying to find my way around. i can't even find the chat room for anxiety- which is making me anxious!
anyway, it's nice to be here and not feel so alone. despite the stats being so high for people wirh anxiety and depression, noone seems to talk about it, and if i bring it up, people often try to normalise how i'm feeling, but that only makes me feel like they are minimalising it.
i too have struggles with new friends. i feel like im on show and have to be the best version of myself which is pretty exhausting when im not feeling great.
how's the new friendship working out? what's happening that's making you feel anxious?
@PollyannaGlad
I was anxious around people for decades until I read a book on introversion and stopped loathing myself for wanting to be by myself. I now limit my gatherings to 4 or 5 people at the most and I'm much more relaxed. Not saying my circumstances are like yours, I'm sure our situations are very different, but it was a major relief for me once I figured out the source of my anxiety.
@secretPlum2797 hi Plum! Nice yo meet you. Everything you say I can totally relate to. For me it seems the older I get the more anxious I get about meeting new ppl, making new friends. Now that Ive turned 40 I feel like a big giant meteor hit me in the head and somehow left me alive but now everything seems so difficult to bear. All the years of fighting depression... its like I dont have the strength anymore. Anyhow... I can relate very well, and I think this may be the place for your posts and vents :) I welcome it anyhow.
