36, almost 37 here.
I just broke up with someone after 5 years and moved back to my hometown. It just feels weird all around.
Unsure if it will get better or not is the biggest anxiety I face.
Also, I have some friends here, but I always have to ask them to do something. I am sick of reaching out all the time, I just want them to check in sometime. I fear this will be the case all the time in my late 30s and early 40s.

Starting over...is.. hard.

I'll be 35 next month. Still single, only dated once in my lifetime (hard to believe, right?), a boyfriend that lasted for a little over a year, and that was more than 15 years ago. Wow, time flies, and yet it's so slow when you're all alone. One girl I know of from high school, just had her 4th child! Oh well, for the longest time though, I knew that I didn't want to have kids, especially now, it's way past the "ideal" age that was in my mind if I had ever gotten married and wanted kids. Unless I somehow get married before I turn 40, and my future husband somehow convinces me.. then, I'll think about it.

Deep down inside though, I do long for a life partner, someone I could spend the rest of my life with. Problem is, I'm not really the outgoing type, and not the kind to actively look for someone. Maybe I'm destined to be single to the day I leave the Earth. People I know, keep telling me that I'll meet someone when I least expect it, so, does it mean I have to stop expecting? The place I work though, definitely not a place where I can meet anyone, as most colleagues are female, and the males are all married with kids. It's hard not to think about it as I get older each year, as people say it's hard to find love when you're in your late mid- to late 30s.

I sometimes feel, I just need to leave the country, travel overseas, and hope to meet someone "unexpected" there. Currently in a little financial crisis though, so definitely won't have the money to travel for the next few years.. (sad), I'd be 40 by then~

Hey @Jaeteuk

Totally hear where you're coming from. I'm turning 35 in 4 months! In my head I still feel 31 😂. Though I do believe in that saying that you're only as old as you feel.

Meeting people is a heck of a lot harder in your 30s compared to teens or 20s. In my 20s, I'd constantly bump into new people at uni, work, travelling etc and most of them had the time and energy to chat and get to know me. 30s feels very different to that. Most folks have responsibilities now and free time is hard to find. That said, I'm still able to find ways to meet people and bond over shared interests. If you want to spitball ideas that might work for you, feel free to shout here and I'd be happy to try and help.

Are guys really only attracted to those who are dressed nicely with heavy makeup? Ever since I was in my 20s, I've never really bothered to dress up. To me, comfort and natural was more important. At most, is using lipstick (but with wearing masks now, my lipstick has not even been used once since I bought it). Dressing up, I'm not the type of person that likes to follow trends, so my wardrobe is probably quite outdated.

I've always stuck to the belief that I want someone to be attracted to me for me, not for what I look like if I were to use heavy makeup, or to dress clothes that reveal skin. Is there really no such person who doesn't look at appearance as first impressions? I don't want to pretend to be someone I'm not, just to attract the opposite sex~

The biggest struggle for me that we face as we reach 30s are the roles that the society has set when we were kids. We grew up having these preconceived ideas that we have to have certain things in life at 30. Car, family, a house, decent position in a company--- all these things make up a real mature responsible adult. Sadly not all of us have these things before we reach that 30 year old mark. A few were lucky to have most of the checklist ticked. But I am pretty sure majority of us haven't. Probably some chose career over family or chose to be in love and forgot about their dream job. Wherever we are, 30s,-39s, I still think we deserve to try. Try to do something out of that burning passion that we have from within. It could be renovating the home, going back to the gym, gardening, dating again-we are free to do so. The only thing that hinders us is ourselves.

The greatest struggle for me was getting a job and being able to provide for myself. I had panick attacks every other day sometimes. Living with your parents at 30+ who can't support you financialy and having a long distance bf who you can't see soon because you can't afford it is really overwelming. 7cups helped me very much with controlling my anxiety and depression. I have come far enough now. The job thing is sometimes a problem still, but at least now i have a temp job, i live with my bf etc etc. The problem i'm having now is listening to my mother and my bf's mother whine about why i'm not having a baby. The role society pressures us to adopt is something tough. Not wanting a baby is something odd and bad apparently. I rejoined 7 cups recently to cope with all of these. I am happy i have you all and i can share withought being judged. ❤️
