Feeling like life is pointless

I am turning 35 in a week and I feel like every aspect of my life is a failure. I am broke and I can’t forsee myself ever being able to afford a car or a house. My parents are older and starting to become senile. I don’t recognize them and I feel like I missed the chance to be friends with them. If I do get married or buy a house I can’t ask them for advice anymore. I’m single and I have herpes.

I’ve been on a lot of adventures that I felt like were the point of life at the time but now I wonder… for what? The thought of another adventure doesn’t compel me like it used to.

I feel like I just can’t get it together and everyone else seems to be able to.

@ambitiousHuman6382

🥺

You are going through alot.

And that's overwhelming.

I'm sorry your parents are struggling, but you can make the most of whatever time you have left.

The memories will give you comfort.

It's important to take things one day at a time.

Yes, money makes things happen, and we all could do with a whole lot more of it but it doesn't define who you are as a person.

You have value 💜💕

@ambitiousHuman6382 There is no set way to go through life, I think it's safe to say all of us have some regrets.  But you did what you felt was right at the time, and going on adventures is a valid way to spend one's youth.  The harsh hand of time comes for us all and all parting is sorrow.  It's hard to see people fade away.  Be there as much as you can (and want) and make the most of what time you still have with them.  You didn't do anything wrong.

some things excite us like adventures but those things dont always happen plus adventures are temporary. what you need is a purpose in life, a drive that gives you a reason to wake up in the morning. for me, my purpose in life is to help. i believe in God and I believe following His commandments are the sole purpose of humans. Had I not known God things in life would just stay the same... scrolling on my phone... while lying in bed,

The first step is to accept that even the highlights of our days and years are also temporary. People may seem they have it together but even I, at 24, have not gotten good enough at the skills I am supposed to have as an adult... We enjoy because it makes like berable, but being happy as a goal in life is not at all realistic because grief, sadness, boredom, and etc are emotions that are something we will inevitably feel at some point in our lives. And even though you feel this way right now, if the highs are temporary, so are the lows. It can be crushing and painfully slow like your heart is being grounded up into a million pieces but it is temporary. One day you feel disappointed about your life, the next moment you're watching a funny video that made you laugh. Emotions are temporary too. But it is our responsibility for the direction in our lives like finding God (in my case the God of MCGI), helping others, donating blood, helping your parents and spend the last days of their lives with them not because they deserve it but because you don't want to regret that when they die. There should be a reason behind your actions. Meaning. Substance. A purpose. A drive.
