If the pain of betrayal trauma never really goes away, then doesn't that mean you never truly heal? its so confusing

Time never heals wounds, it’s just a saying that needs to go away! It literally lays in the subconscious of the mind and it when it gets triggered it brings back the same exact feelings that you assume was gone! If you can remember something that happened years ago that makes you happy when you think about it why wouldn’t thinking something hurtful won’t make you get upset again? So now times doesn’t heal wounds, time just lets you cope with it

It is always there but a person learns how to deal with it and move on in life.

@zeetee17

Sometimes healing itself isn't returning back to the way you were before but more like learning to live with that trauma functionally.  It's important to note that might look different for each person. My trauma will never completely "go away" in time. However, in time, I chose to find how to work with it.  Still unfair and absolutely a reason to be dismayed but life sucks then you keep living, right?

@zeetee17 I feel like there is a misconception about healing. In my opinion, trauma doesn't go away, and you can't force yourself to forget about traumatic things that have happened to you. The purpose of healing is finding better ways to cope with what you went through so that when you do feel triggered, you have no problem returning to yourself. Part of healing, in my opinion, is acceptance. I times like this, it's good to remember the Serenity Prayer.
