Divorce sucks

Hello all,

I'm a 36 year old male whose wife just filed for divorce. I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't really blame her. I've hade struggles with alcohol and I promise throughout the years to remain sober but relapsed repeatedly. I have put her through so much and I still love her dearly. I know that there's nothing I could say to bring her back and change what I've done in the past. We were together for 10 years but had no kids so there's less baggage in separation. I'm so down on myself for what I've become. Throughout the years I really let myself go which I know added to the situation. I moved to a city that I don't know anybody in for her, now she's gone and I'm alone. I have no friends or family nearby. I do have a successful career which is my only up side. I'm going to give it my all too stop the booze and get back in the gym. I'm just so crushed right now and I'm afraid of being alone. I always wanted a family of my own and my life is ticking by. I feel so defeated and low right now. Any advice on picking up the pieces would be helpful.

Maybe it's a plus that you don't know anybody where you now live. If you plan on quitting an addiction that will never allow you a life you will feel pleased with , it's best not to have friends , family, places that you have to avoid so you don't relapse. You may be the best possible position to make up your mind in regards to a better future. This may be your crossroads. Honestly they are much more well defined than many people see ahead of them. Choose one and fight to stay on it. Just look ahead at the prize and not the bs you have to tread through or jump over. I truly wish you the best possible future cause I can tell you have a lot to offer the world!!!! You deserve all it has to offer you!!!

Thank everybody for the replies it really helps me find extra motivation. So quick update, I've remained sober for almost 6 weeks. I've continued to work out hard everyday and I've lost 40 lbs. I recently found out my wife was seeing a coworker and they've since moved in together. It was a struggle but I used the gym and not the bottle. I recently got a job opportunity back home with a substantial raise, I move in August. Feeling more confident, more optimistic, and more equipped to cope. I have a lot of mending and recovery to do but I'm digging myself out of that hole.
