Is there anyone here that didn’t get there degree until later in life
I want to finish my degree in finance I have tested out most of generals and have two years left . My mom says it’s to late because I’m 39 and missed the best years of my life.
she calls my desire to work in finance a pie in the sky job.
I might not be in the same age group and my situation is a bit different but I hear you. I’m 27. Graduated with a BS in Graphic Design. My parents of course supported my decision to leave away the engineering and business to pursue something I like. Now, after about 5 years after graduating, I’m stuck at a job where I haven’t done any real graphic design work for almost a year now (just a whole bunch of labor work) and decided that I want to just go back to school for my computer engineering degree (second bachelors). Who would have known that that process is actually harder than it sounds because not all schools offered that, financial aid doesn’t cover a second bachelors, and there is no reset button. Now people who were saying I did a good job after graduating are calling me a failed graduate because I could’ve just went for something that would guarantee my career advancement or something that isn’t just random or a “hobby”.
I guess to answer your question even though I’m not around your age group, I don’t ever think there’s is a “too old” or “it’s too late”. We are always learning. That’s something every human being will have to accept. Who’s to tell you that your too old to learn? Or you missed your best years of your life? Who said there was a set age to categorized that age range to be the best time of our life? Because I can tell you now, being 27, my 20s are the worst time of my life. I developed anxiety, then depression, then on and off going panic attacks, regrets, and then recently just turning 27, I realized everything sucks. But hey, we have to do what we have to do to make us happy. For me, that’s going back to school even if I have to take out loans to learn more. I swapped majors so much in college and I’m still unsure what I really want to do in life. As long as you continue to push through, when you hit that finish line, that’s where the best years of your life will begin.

I never get a degree because I lack basic understanding of things and probably never will be good enough to start a degree. I think having ability and resources to finish a degree is one big win for anyone, I would really wish to have a chance like you.
It is never too late/old to learn and upgrade our educational status! Many people make career changes and go back to school, either for a Degree or Certificate/Diploma. My friend just finished her Master's in Education last year, and she's in her late 40s.
Go for it, the only person that's stopping you would be yourself.

That's so sad that she would say that. Isn't it funny that the people who are supposed to support you can sometimes (or all of the time) treat you like they don't know you at all and like you're the enemy? My mother got her degree a few months before her 60th birthday and she even joined a sorority. You can do it. Don't look back at 65 and say "What was I thinking at 39? I was a baby. I should have ignored the age restrictions that so many people put on themselves and went for it." It's NEVER too late.
