Is there anyone here that didn’t get there degree until later in life

I got my degree later in life while i am not working in same field many many opportunities want A degree on resume .......not always just one in a certain field .........

i can understand your frustration when i left a dead end job for one close to my degree she was very hurtful ........making it seem like i should have hung on with both hands to a dead end job. she was always like "wow how did you get that job" when i changed jobs .......

like she forgot about my degree ....but honestly it was insulting to have your own mom not say things like you can do whatever you set your mind to etc.....

@shastafame27 I believe your mom is incorrect. I'm the same age as you, and completed my bachelor's degree about 6 months ago. It can definitely be done!!!

Many people switch jobs later in life. There's no shame in it. If finance is what you like to do, I say, go for it!

@shastafame27 hi i dont think that anything we want to do is not worth of trying. If YOU feel like doing it you should give it a try. Not doing something just cauae somebody else says its too late never leads to anything good. Maybe it wont be the same as having finished it earlier butat least you wont be left wondering what could have been. Just try to be realistic with your goals and give yourselve the patience you might need to get that degree.

@shastafame27 While studying at university i saw alot alot of students who were older than us. Honestly some of them did better than most of us at university because they always used every spare second there to study, whereas others who arent so old might postphone studying thinking they have alot of time. People who are older are better at structuring their time and prioritizing which is definitely a strength. I would say that you can definitely do it, if you are prepared to spend the years on it. Often the ones who leave both old and younger get tired of how many years they have to be there. So if you accept that it will take so and so many years. THen i would say to go for it.

I think it's a waste to get a degree at a young age actually. Being young is for just that....being young and figuring life out for yourself. Have several jobs, meet new people, experience life. Because it's only when you start to see life for what it really is after lived experience and struggles, and getting to know yourself better, that you will figure out what you really want to do here. I'm 38, 39 in June. .I JUST started a 4 year university program for a degree nobody would ever dream of me having. Not even myself. But through a rough life and even harder life with kids. . Taught me so much I wouldn't know if I had been the 20 year old pencil skirt, money chasing young professional that seems to be pushed on kids more and more. Money money money. It's a race for wealth and social status.... measure success by your own definition. Success to me is old school. If you have one really genuine friend you can count on, family that loves you without condition, kids that are happy and feel loved, and enough money to have them all over for dinner. . That's enough for me.

I am 42 and still working on a degree to switch careers. I would say don’t let anyone persuade you to change course. Listen to your heart and gut. There is no rush.

I finished my Master's at 39. Don't listen to anyone, if you really want to finish your degree, go for it. The sky is the limit and it's never too late

I got my associate's degree at 28 and I got my bachelor's at 39, which was just two years ago. I am planning on going back for graduate-level studies too. So I will be even older

I'm 39 and I have a graduate degree in English that was probably unwise. Finance seems like a better choice. I think about doing my PhD.

I got my degree when I was 48! Then my husband and l moved to Florida just in time for the big recession. We both lost our hubs multiple times because there were so many lay offs But . . Not before I worked for a year in a prestigious institution doing exactly what I got my degree for. And it was worth it for that. It took me 10 years going to school at night to get my degree and it was worth it. Think how much easier it will be for you. Follow your dream
