Society pressure for marriage as not getting married and having kids is not a successful life
I am 30 years old. I haven't found the right guy for me. But the society expects me to get married and have kids as that is the "normal life". I am scared of the arranged marriage, last year I tried this path but thankfully before the wedding I got to know t his issues. I called off the wedding. Now again people around me starts talking that i should get married. I want to marry but out of love. I tried way hard to ignore these people and be happy with myself. But this is very hard.
I'm also in my 30s and I'm facing the same issue. I don't care about cultural pressure though but I do care about biological clock ticking off as I love children and its my deepest wish to be a mother one day. That being said, finding love isn't in my hands. So far I've only met players or guys who are absolutely irresponsible...it makes me really sad as I feel I deserve someone with a good character and heart like myself..I don't want to force myself into something arranged that's not of my liking but some people say love can be cultivated with anyone. I wonder if its true.
You should have the choice of who you want to marry, but I do know some people who goes into an arranged marriage. They haven't met in person, but chatted over the phone a month prior and she is happily married with children. So, I think arranged marriages will work out, as long as you're able to speak with the person first. Get to know them on a deeper level, as with arranged marriages, your spouse would be chosen based on what your parents/relatives think is best for you.
I'm in my mid-30s and still haven't met a potential husband. Luckily my parents don't really push for marriage. I'm not really into kids, so the ticking clock only applies to aging, but I know that I do want to get married one day. I only hope it's sooner than later. I think my first boyfriend jinxed me, it felt like my first and last relationship. Never really actually dated anyone else afterwards. Gone on about 2 dates in the last nearly 2 decades. I'm actually in fear of what my future will be like, if I am unable to find a significant other. When my parents are gone, and I'm not sure if my brother will remarry either, it would just be the two of us left in the end.
I can totally sympathize with your situation. I grew up in a small town where everyone marries their high school sweetheart and never leaves.
I wanted to do something else with my life. As a result, I am still single and struggling to find my person. My family doesn't understand and constantly nags me to settle down and get married. I know they mean well, but it is hard to listen to after a while.
It's your life. Don't settle for the wrong person just to make your family happy.
