Opinions/Thoughts on Mid-Life Crisis
I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions about dealing with a mid-life crisis. Did you go through one or did your spouse? Do you think people change drastically at this time of life? Do you feel people just want or need a completely different life? Do they think they'll be happier? (Are they happier after?)
Thank you in advance if you can share your experiences.
@thoughtfulmomma, I am not sure about mid life crisis but I do notice myself and people I know going through changes as we grow older. Our lifestyle changes, our family focus changes, responsibility changes, outlook changes , social standing changes, financial standing changes.... mmm ... naturally we too have to make some changes to fit into these changes happening around us. I ,personally , experience some challenges to adapt to some of these changes and I took some time out to reflect . This sort of helped me to make some adjustments and also work on my acceptance .
@thoughtfulmomma Hi I just saw this today. My partner of 23 years did not have a midlife crisis. I did have a bit of one. In the end I decided that the grass was not greener on the other side!
@thoughtfulmomma- when I was about to turn 50 i wanted out of my high pressure city job. so it was from the frying pan into the fire. Next position ended up depleting me in another entirely new way. My husband was very supportive behind me during that time. So the grass was definately not greener in the new career choice- but at least I made the change. Now I am retired- and feel relieved and rudderless at times. What I had imagined for my retirement has been altered by impulsive choices and esp the coronavirus isolation.

Seems like I have seen and heard of a lot of Mid Life Crisis shifts. Some do seem happier, many do not. The end of a military career happens about that age and I'll admit I questioned if "this" is the life I want till I die or the second half of life. My friends who do seem happier live life a bit more fully with toys (boats/motorcycles/anything they want) and they have the freedom to not have to consider a spouse or get a young one that panders to them. Conversely, there is the security of a routine, partnership, abscences of lonelyness, dependability, .. (all boring words that seem to imply... steady-boring life)... there's a certain blessing to that as well. Less stress is not always a bad thing. My opinion, a lot of it probably depends on your spouse / your career-job. If they are not enjoyable it would be a great time to shift to more enjoyment. If they are satisfying a person might hardly feel a mid life crisis. Just an opinion. Thanks for posting.

1. I think I might be going through one because I am suddenly terrified of getting older with my life remaining the same.
2. If I am beginning one, I am at the beginning, so I am unsure if I will change drastically.
3. I need a complete change to my life. I feel like I am barely hanging on to life. I need it to change completely.
4. If it changes the way I want it to, then yes, I will be happier.
