This weekend I went through some of my old photos and got reminded again of a very beautiful vacation with my 2 dogs in France in a forest. It was so much fun! At night I would put the mattress on the floor and my dogs would sleep right and left to me. It was wonderful even though one of my dogs was snorring some nights! 😄

Your vacation in France sounds wonderful!
I've always had mental problems so I remember problems with most vacations I've been on.
When I was a child, my parents took me and my siblings to Niagara Falls. I don't remember anything bad about those vacations. I guess we can call them the best.

What was the best vacation you ever had?
My good vacations were when I was a little boy in the 1960s. We spent Christmas in Florida at my grandma's. We were right at the beach (Atlantic coast) and played in the sand and water nearly every day we were there each time. 1969 was the last time we went. There will never be anything like that place again - they built condos there soon after our last visit.

Glad you could keep that wonderful memory! I can relate to what you said about the condos, it's not the same anymore. Wish it would be kept more natural which might also be healthier for the beaches and the sea as well.

I don’t know that I have a favorite vacation. I do recall hiking along the Appalachian Trail with three friends back in 1977. Not exactly a relaxing trip with creature comforts (hiking miles every day, sleeping in tents, eating freeze-dried food), but it was enjoyable nonetheless.

We only went for two weeks, so we did not do the whole thing. That was very long ago when I was young and healthy.
My best vacations ever were when as a child and later a teenager I visited my aunt and uncle in their farm . Being a city girl everything was so exciting to me, so interesting, so much fun.

It was in 2002. Mom and I went to Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. It was just her and I and we had a really good time. We ate at places we wanted to and went on tours we wanted to. We also visited Jamestown. It was in October and the leaves were changing. It was the very last vacation she went on. You see Mom had just been told something was wrong with her brain. A CT done in the ER just weeks before found something. The MRI would be done when we got back. That was in October 2002 and she was passed away May 2003. I am so glad her and I had that last vacation together.

My friends and I rode different rides in an amusement park and that memory is encapsulated in a single polaroid picture that i treasure forever...

What was the best vacation you ever had?
When I graduated from grade school our class went to Wisconsin Dells...many, many years ago. I remember standing outside this one shop window watching people make chocolate fudge.
Going to grandma & grandpa's farm for the summer. It was a break from all the abuse I suffered growing up. It was a very safe, happy place. Spent a lot of time with my cousins there too.
Then, in 2017 we went out to Idaho to camp out in a cow pasture to watch the Total Eclipse! Lots of people were there. It was awesome. Will never forget that experience.

Yes we did but it went so fast. Don't have the equipment to get the good ones. It was enough just to be there to witness the eclipse.

I used to travel alot, had some great holidays. Don't leave home now and all I have is photos and memories

I could imagine that looking at those photos on a rainy day brings back good memories.
Best vacation I ever took hands down was the road trip my daughter, her father, and I took. We left CA to drive across the country to NC. It was beautiful to see the sunflower fields with the happy giants growing within them. The colorful dawn that blankets us all at the start of a new day. My favorite was watching the stars illuminate the darkness as if they promised me I could never be in total complete darkness... not by the light of the moon and stars. Driving across many towns, stopping and meeting people across our journey was memorable. I still remember the lovely hospitality of family, friends, and aquatintences.
