Hi, Peace,

I'm not good at that. If I work with them, I am stuck. I don't know how to not let them get the better of me.

If I'm able to walk away from a person in the general public, then I can do so. I can use my morals to understand that when a situation is not meant for me, that it is wisest to simply state that the situation is not for me and decline to partake in the situation.

If it's at work, I'm stuck.

I totally get the "if I'm at work I"m stuck" thing.....I'm right there with ya.....

For everyone else.....I understand we aren't supposed to judge people, but I constantly am...I think we all do...with that said, If someone doesn't like me, someone whom I have chosen not to interact with because I judged their character as someone I don't want to interact with, that doesn't bother me at all. Yet if its a person that I feel has good character, that I would like to interact with, and they don't like me, that bothers me......

Then there is this....I'm a supervisor at my place of employment. I learned my skills in the military....you follow orders, you don't ask questions, and it is what it is.... I'm not here to be your friend...we have a job to do...you don't have to like me...you just have to what you are supposed to...in the civilian world, I learned quick that its a much different way......if we become friends, its all the better and makes the work environment that much nicer....but if you don't like me, I'm not supposed to care...I'm supposed to make sure you are doing what you are supposed to be doing....yet....I'm more likely to get better quality of work, and you possibly may do that little extra, if you liked me and I treated you as such.....so I go out of my way for those employees under me, even though sometimes they don't deserve it..... and I shouldn't for some of them because they just don't get it....and I have been burned for it in the past.....Its a hard road to travel for me......

What helps you to detach from what other people think of you?

I keep in mind that their opinion doesn't matter. I also try to think of people who have favorable opinions of me. Of course, it depends on who it is. There are some people whose opinions to matter. Then it's harder to deal with it if they don't like me or whatever.

Unfortunately I do not succeed but:
I try to inform myself and repeatedly tell myself "I can only control and be held responsible for my actions." and then follow up with "While they might be right or they might be wrong with me, I will put forth good measures and be kind. I would want them to be kind with me."

I am rarely around people, plus getting older has made me not care about what others think.
