International Hummus Day 😀
Every year on May 13th, hummus lovers unite to celebrate International Hummus Day. Hummus is an Arabic word that means chickpea. The most basic hummus recipe consists of cooked mashed chickpeas (garbanzo beans or channa), tahini (ground sesame seeds), olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic. There are, however, many varieties. I like my hummus either topped with hot pepper sauce or with peppermint sauce.

Btw. Hummus is a very healthy food and provides folate, copper, manganese, magnesium, iron, zinc, and Vitamin B6. Hummus is also a low-carb food with a plant-based protein.

@amiablePeace77 I rried making hummus with recipes but it does not come out the way I like it. I add more tahini than they say. In the summer I avoid cayenne and other forms of peppers because they heat me up.
Here is my best quess on a recipe that I improvise
2 cans of cooked Garbanzo beans (drain and save liquid)
1/4 cup of tahini
1 Tbsp of lemon juice or to taste
1 Tsp of Garlic powder or to taste
1/2 Tsp of cumin or to taste
1 Tsp of onion powder
a dash of cayenne or to taste
Add enough of the liquid to giveyou consistency you like - for me that is the liquid from 1 can and I save the other liquid for soup in refrigerator, or freeze for long term storage.
Puree 5 minutes in a food processor. Put in container and refrigerate over night for most flavor

It tastes better after sitting for a day in the refrigerator in a container.
