@amiablePeace77,

1. Do you think it is important to expect obstacles and create plans ahead of time to overcome them? Yes, but not exhaustive plans. There are plans and then there are plans that are just obsessive planning.

2. What do you think is more important, making a plan or learning coping skills, like self calming/soothing ahead of time and practicing them daily to be able to manage the unknown? I dont think one is more important than the other. Planning is vital is some areas of life, like budgeting. Coping skills are also vital for helping one through rough times.

@purpleTree4652

Those are good points purpleTree, for certain situations we simply need a plan but having coping skills helps to strengthen our emotional resilience.

I love plans. They make me feel safe. But, sometimes you just can't plan for everything, so you need to be able to have some coping mechanisms for those times when plans fail. So for me, I need to have a plan for my plan. :)

@thoughtfulmomma, I understand totally when say you have a plan for you plan. I do that too and include boundaries, a limit , acceptance and coping skills in my plan for the plan.

Realize I need to incorporate a little bit of both planning and coping. Do much better with daily planning- and like the concept of including self care/ minfulness in that plan. Great idea- thanks.
