What is your best memory of this year?

Tough question! I think it might have been taking a day trip with my family just to get the heck out of the house and grab some fresh air. ...it's the simple things...

@thoughtfulmomma

This year has made a lot of us appreciate the small things more. Things we have always taken for granted. I find it beautiful it was "just" a daytrip and nothing really huge.

Take care

Nice thoughtfulmomma. You're so right, it does not need to be something big, just little simple things can brighten one's day.

What is your best memory of this year?

It should be buying a new car (I bought it yesterday). Or maybe just being with my fiance'.

@Offmytrack

A new car is always a treat if you have wanted a new one for some time. Congratulations on getting one. Being with your fiance also sounds enjoyable to you. Now you can take him for a ride some place you like in your new car.

maybe swimming and cliff jumping into a quarry full of clean cold water. That was fun.

Wow, that truly sounds amazing (but scary, since I'm afraid of heights). Was it something you had wanted to do for a long time? Swimming is so nice and great training for the body as well. Thank you for sharing.

Aww, pets can be really great, nice company when you feel lonely sad, warming if you are cold and playful if you are hapoy. Was the cat a kitten when you got it or how come you got to bring her/him home with you?

What is your best memory of this year?

That's a stumper of a question...I think it would have to be in early January, before Covid really began to be a "thing" in my country. I was staying at a bed-and-breakfast with a small fireplace in my room, discovering the British series "Sherlock Holmes" starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Somehow I had missed it in its first airing, and it was such a fast, witty and well-done mystery series that I was instantly hooked. And I am a tough customer when it comes to television! There were good things to eat at any time of the evening, the winter was outside and I was toasty warm inside, and overall it was a very pleasant evening.

Sometimes, when you are making a memory, you don't know you are doing so. And when I know I am in the middle of what will one day be a pleasant memory, there are times I feel like I am not enough in that very moment. I look back on it and feel like I didn't quite appreciate it enough at the time.

Sounds like a wonderful memory. I'm glad you can look back at it now and see how lovely it was. I can relate to the feeling of not enjoying things like I should while it's ongoing. We are only human beings and full of emotions. Things happen and we react to them. That's why we have feelings in the first place. Your feeling about the trip now seems very positive. Isn't it amazing how our brains help us sort things out.

What is your best memory of this year?

That is clearly the day I saw Chloe the cat. She had been missing as she was stolen by a neighbor years ago. I found her in a park. She was emaciated and covered in sores. Her eyes and my eyes locked. I called her by name and she meowed. Then we went to each other. She let me pick her up and give her as much comfort as I could. She was in such bad shape I wasn’t even sure it was the same cat. She is now my family again, and lives with me.

What a story!🙉 Thank godness you found the cat again❤ Must have been very mixed feelings to begin with. Happy to see her, but sad about what she had been through. I bet you appreciate her even more now that she is back in your family. I am happy for all of you.

How about another happy memory. Taking a trip before Covid was so widespread. Went and dug up real dinosaur bones and other fossils, saw Yellowstone national park with the geysers and bison and grizzly bears and marmots, and elk and a leech and a few mosquitoes and pronghorn deer and sagebrush and lots of flowers and a waterfall and hot springs and petroglyphs and wild horses and dinosaur tracks. Had a good time on a big adventure with my kid in 2020.

Wow again. That sounds really great too. Dinosaur bones and geysers in the same trip. I hope you didn't get too close to the grizzly bears. Yellowstone sure is a magnificent place, one of a kind and to spend it with your kid must have been a memory for life.

Thank you so much for sharing. Hopefully we will be able to travel again in a not too long future.

@spectacularSunrise7824

the grizzly was heading toward the only path we could take back to safety away from an angry charging bison blocking the trail and blocked by an acid lake and geothermal features on the side away from the bear. I was watching my back the whole time as we headed closer to a clump of taller bigger looking people.
choose one: bear, bison, acid, boiling mud, or people who might have Covid-19. Apparently we chose correctly because we remained whole and healthy!

I can't even believe how messed up my life is. I struggle with Chronic Pain and MDD, GAD and P.T.S.D.. I was thrown away by my Corporate employer right before Thanksgiving. I had No Thanksgiving, No Birthday which was the same day and I am going to have No Christmas.

What is your best memory of this year?

I'm sorry, but I just don't have any. Last year and this year have been the most painful years of my life since I was a boy. This has been awful.

@WharfRat

So sorry to hear there are no fond memories the last two years. I wish next year will change for the better for you so that you also make memories you treasure. 2020 has been a very different year with social distancing and a little virus ruling our lives. I wish you the best holiday you can have given the circumstances.
