Hey,
As I've gotten older, I've realized the importance of tending to my social connections like you would a garden. It takes a bit of effort, but the rewards are worth it.
Firstly, I've made a conscious effort to stay in touch. Life gets busy, but I try not to let those friendships slip away. Whether it's a quick text, a call, or even a handwritten letter, maintaining that connection is key.
I've also embraced new ways of socializing. Technology has opened up so many avenues for staying connected, so I've hopped on the video call train. Virtual hangouts might not be the same as in-person gatherings, but they're a great way to bridge the distance.
Quality over quantity is my mantra. I've found that having a few close, meaningful connections is more fulfilling than a large but shallow social circle. Investing time and energy into those relationships pays off in terms of support and understanding.
Joining clubs or groups centered around my interests has been a game-changer. It's a fantastic way to meet like-minded people and nurture connections organically. Plus, it keeps life interesting and adds a sense of purpose.
Lastly, I've learned to be vulnerable. Opening up about my own experiences and feelings has deepened my connections with others. It's a two-way street, and being genuine fosters a sense of trust and understanding.
Growing older doesn't mean losing touch; it's an opportunity to cultivate deeper, more meaningful connections. After all, life's journey is better when shared with good company.

I joined a 50 plus group that have many social events every month … bowling, painting, meals, cards, bingo, and so much more

How do you nurture your social connections to support your mental well-being as you grow older with time?
Volunteering here helps me to feel connected to others and supports my mental health. I also call my best friend on a regular basis (she lives in a different country).

Most of the time, I don't.
Did have a few people I met on ***, who I texted. I finally quit because I'm tired of being the only one making the effort to communicate. If you value me as a friend then act like it for God's sake; if not then I can do without you.
I still reach out to a couple relatives...they're both pretty old. Once they d.i.e, that'll be it.

Social connections? I have two friends I can text. Can't discuss anything too deep, though. That's all I have.
