Do you have any daily routine you enjoy?

Hello!

Sometimes they mention routine like a moment from which people would have a break, like if it always implies to experience an unpleasant monotony.

enlightened But what about having a nice daily routine? Is it doable?

@BeyondTheInvisible

I like being an hour early for work, sitting alone in my car, playing on my tablet.

@BeyondTheInvisible I have found that I sometimes really look forward to my exercise routine. If it came down to it I could go without it and will sometimes be lazy on vacations but getting in a workout and then mediation after is helpful for me.

@BeyondTheInvisible I try to have quiet times during the day. I think of all the people that made it possible to eat such healthy food. I do stretching exercises to stay limber.

Beyond, I have daily routines, I try to combine the "I decided to do routine with fun" so it becomes pleasure. Apart from that quality time with myself and my husband (the quality time with myself evolved more or less since I am here) and yes they are doable and I do enjoy them.

When I get done my job done for the day, I go home and take my dog out. If its not too hot we go for a walk. If its hot, we just walk around the yard. If I dont feel like going, my dog will sit and stare at me until I go out with her. Its good, she makes me me get out.

I don't during the winter, but spring and summer when I get off work I go home, grab snake rescue gear and head out for nightly snake patrols. Even on the nights when I think I'm too tired, as soon as I get into the patrol area, I feel all of the stress and exhaustion of the workday lift off my shoulders and I settle into completely different mentatilty -- relaxed, focused, competent, and ready for anything. It's a HUGE difference from the way I spend my day struggling with ADD in a job I hate, constantly feeling overwhelmed and under qualified for life. It's like, for a few hours a night I get to be the person I wish I could be, but in daily life I can't be.

@Rattles

Hi there Rattles!

I don't know what snake patrols is about but I've clearly understoood that it is the moment in which you feel yourself and you can express yourself at best.

So sorry to hear that during everyday's life and at work it is not happening

Is it a mirage to think that one day things could change?

Take care..

@BeyondTheInvisible Thanks for the cool response! Things are actually changing, My boss is married to my sister, After she fled the house for her own safety, he informed me that if she divorces him, he'll fire me. So... in another week or two I'll be out of work, Not suer what will happen after that,

Snake patrol is just patroling rural highways, moving snakes (and other critters) off the road, We go out there for the snakes since they can't run and dodge the cars, but we move anyone who needs it. Mice sometimes, and even large instects like mantids and stick bugs.

@Rattles sorry to hear about your boss. Maybe getting away from your boss will make your life less stressful but that does not sound like a fair way for him to deal with you.

Have you started looking for another job. It is easier to get another job when you already have one.

@soulsings Yeah, I'm looking for other work. I've been looking for a long time. But... the other 2 employees at my job quit this week, so now my boss really needs me (the last employee left) if he wants to keep his business open, so the immediate pressure is off and while I hate my job, I really need the money, so I'll stay until I can find something. He still may fire me if the divorce turns ugly, but safe for now at least!

@Rattles he sounds self injuring to himself and the business. The fact two employees left may mean he does not treat others very well either.

I'm on a strict diet (have been for 9 months now and lost 45 lbs woohoo) and every weekday morning I pack all the food I get to eat during the work day. Basically the same things every day, eaten at the same times every day - and by the time I eat them I'm really hungry and do my best to eat them slowly so it's very enjoyable. 9:00 am plain oatmeal cooked in water, so warm and comforting to my stomach. Also a boiled egg. 10:00 some sliced turkey 11:00 - the best part of the whole day - 1/2 c cottage cheese with 1 cup blueberries...1:00 a bean burrito...3:00 a processed food snack like cheesits....5:00 a piece of string cheese....7:00 a salad..... It was so hard at first but now the routine feels comforting.

I also enjoy the routine of putting my makeup on in the morning.
