Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)?
I know I said I was going to stay in my corner and ramble in one spot. But I’m trying to find out more about CTE.
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)
I am trying to figure out what is going on with my head and this prognosis fits . I am asking for help from anyone that knows anything about it or has known anyone that had it . Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami
Have you considered to talk about it with a therapist to get a professional point of view or maybe ask in "Questions about mental health by listeners and members" in 7cups online therapy https://www.7cups.com/home/therapy/ ?
@amiablePeace77
Thank you again,
I have considered the talking to a therapist thing and I am not sure if I will. If you want to know why, I will gladly discuss it with you further, just please, not now. I am beyond exhausted.
The other part of 7 cups for questions, I didn’t know about that area to go to.
I will try and remember to come back here to try that link.
Thank you so very much.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami
You are very welcome and I hope the link helps.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami A neurologist could answer your questions regarding CTE better than most 7Cups members. At least talk to your doctor about it. Best wishes in finding the answers on this quest called "Life".

Thank you for reaching out, I do appreciate any and all input.
Trigger warning for mention of death.
In reality , not really. There is very little actually known about it. It can only be diagnosed after death. I am trying to see if anyone has any information about it because maybe they had someone they knew that was diagnosed/discovered after they passed to maybe find out behavioral issues I need to try and watch out for in myself.
I will be reaching out to places researching it but I’m am really grasping at straws because my brain flickers way too often and I don’t know what is happening next. I’m trying to adjust to the complete unknown.
I’m not trying to be rude or arrogant, please don’t take my wording as such. I’m trying to understand what is happening the bed way I know how.
Thank you and I truly appreciate your reaching out to me with your kindness and support.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami As someone with a tramatic brain injury I can relate to some of the issues caused by CTE. I want to thank you for bringing this up as I was not familar with the term until now.
I'm having a hard time dealing with things due to the holiday being nothing but a reminder of when I lost a portion of my brain and most of my memory. It's also near the birthday of my late father in law.
The hardest part is that lost an aunt on Friday. This was due to heart and kidney issues that I know I'll have unless magic happens over the next twenty years or so.

As far as CTE is concerned, I urge you to do your own research, online etc. I am by far no expert. I’m just recently familiar with it, I won’t get into a big rambling conversation here but I’m fairly confident after the hundreds of head hits and concussions I have had in my lifetime and adding up a multitude of data from my life regarding past and present issues, this is the one and only thing that has ever come close to explaining a lot. This actually explains the majority of what is happening with me . I just would prefer to not have to continue the suffering, then pass on then finally get an official diagnosis. Better late than never….
I would take your pain and suffering from you if I could.
Thank you for reaching out with your kindness and support.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami This looks like a good article.

Is it possible for me to ask you to remind this is here sometime later this week? This is two links and I am not sure I will even remember one of them is here in this thread. If not, no worries. I will find it at some point, Thank you for everything you do . I appreciate your extreme kindness and support.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami. Yes I can remind you later in the week.

Just a reminder, I can do another reminder in a few days if this is too early.
I have seen one of the most highly regarded concussion doctors in the country and his belief is that CTE is not the cause of mental health issues but it exacerbates them, MDs at BU hold the opposite view. A recent convention in the Fall, I believe held in Europe, seemed to side with BU. Unfortunately, can’t definitively diagnose until we’re dead.
I think it can be found here:

@Huntsy32
Thank you. I truly appreciate your assistance.
No problem at all. I am very interested in the subject.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami Have you seen this information about light therapy?

Finally found another form for a research center. Maybe I will get a response to this one.
No news on medical help front. Mental health related to brain memory, flickering is deteriorating. The meds that I was on helped take the edge off but the episodes of memory loss, complete loss of what I am currently doing is becoming a very regular occurrence. Throughout my workday I experience multiple lapses. Which before long will become a major problem in my work world. It is already wreaking havoc on my work but now it is starting to affect my ability to do my job.
As things are progressing the way they are I am not sure how much longer work will be possible. What do I do then.
@Iamwhoiamwhoami I’m sorry to hear that it’s getting harder to work due to your condition.In the US people who are unable to work can apply for disability benefits.
@adventurousBranch3786
That is true, however the hoops that I have to jump through and the repeated attempts to prove that is not something I have the strength to endure, The few times in my life I tried for any kind of “government” help, it seems like they push so much red tape that people like me who have don’t want the assistance but truly need it , just give up because whatever has brought me there is easier to handle than the nonsense that I have to endure to try and receive a little help.
