I like August because it is usually the hottest month of the year. I love summer weather. The flowers 🌺 are in bloom, the trees give me a lot of shade and the leaves are a dark green. It’s a beautiful time of year.

hi, I am new to this group. I’m 79, and I’m still very active. I teach at the university, still do my own cooking and have a home with a fair amount of responsibility. The reason I joined 7 cups is that I have Stage three kidney disease and need to limit my salt. I want some support in noticing when I am seeing menus with salt, and avoiding recipes that contain salt. I’d also like to hear from other members who are dealing with this issue.

First step for me is do not add salt to foods. Many things I buy at the store already have salt in them. If I want more flavor I add spices I can tolerate. What I find is things have more taste although different without salt.
Looking at labels makes my food choices easier.

Food is a lot more bland without salt, my wife and I do not cook with it and try very hard to purchase products with as little salt as possible.

I am experimenting with citrus and herbs. Lots of suggestions that those things can make the food more interesting. The problem is, I don’t have enough recipes that use those things. I’m going to be looking for more.
