Just trying to get the hang of this. Looking forward to learning from others and learning to enjoy life more.
@SleeplessVet. Hiyas :)
Hi... sorry for the slow reply. Trying to learn about this . @DjChrys
@SleeplessVet- welcome to 7 cups- my heart goes out to you- whether you are a veteranian or a military vet- either way losing sleep is troublesome.
Miltary@barncat
Yes.. it gets pretty depressing sometimes. But I am working on it.
@SleeplessVet glad to have you join in in the forums.
hello 50 and over. i am 54, married, healthy active and loving life (mostly)
Hi @islandgypsy - glad you joined 50 plus.
@soulsings
any other surfers here?
Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!
I would love to see a group chat for those of us, who were the scapegoats in our families. My current crisis is partially due to having been "groomed" to accept gaslighting while staying in a strong state of denial. As a result, someone I trusted and thought I loved, stole hundreds of dollars worth of my personal (and sentimental) items from me over the past EIGHT YEARS. I literally trusted this person with the care of my pets and the keys to my home, while she gaslighted me about aging, misplacing things and memory loss - leaving me emotionally unstable and devasted by betrayal.
I am now studying "7 Cups for the Searching Soul", which has given me a WEALTH of INSIGHT and tremedous HOPE for going forward. Is there anyone else, who would like to form a "Scapegoat Discussion Group"?
@ExDesertScapegoat- my youngest brother is the scapegoat. What is gaslighting?? And welcome to the 50+ forums.
@barncat gaslighting is explained more fully here https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/communication-success/201704/7-stages-gaslighting-in-relationship
@barncat - Thank you! My heart is with your brother . . .
@barncat
@ExDesertScapegoat I am not sure what you mean by that. it sounds like people that have suffered trauma.
there is a Trauma subcom that might welcome a thread about people that have suffered in that way https://www.7cups.com/home/trauma/
@soulsings - Again, thank you so much! I will try your suggested link as I have endured much trauma. 🙏
Hello! I've just joined - I'm almost 50 (just a few more months), but wanted to jump in here now and...well, just get some support for life and experiences and all the questions I have. :)
@thoughtfulmomma welcome to 50+. Glad to meet you.
Hello, I'm Brit, this site is a bit challenging for me, although I've been using computers for years. But I'll get the hang of it eventually, I think. Nice to see the engaging posts on here, and I hope to contribute in a positive way, too! Cheers!
@friendlyLychee8963-welcome if you are new to 7 cups. It is a bit convoluted- but we each find our place. I agree- I enjoy the support we give each other- very essential and needed - esp now in our challenging times.
New here!
@BeyondTheInvisible
Just found this site while searching for information on how to go no contact with my birth family. Have been working to understand their behavior for my whole life and finally am ready to forgive, forget and just let go.
Happy to have found this group and the site, will continue to explore and learn how to stop beating myself up (for not just giving up when all three past therapists made it very clear I should).
Looking forward to all the positive and uplifting stories, time to move on and be who I am meant to be!
Newbie here
