Today, I would like to invite everyone to share their opinions on

Would people need to change how they think, for the world to be peaceful? What needs to change?

I think we can't change the whole World but I can change someone's world by being king to them

@amiablePeace77 For the kind of peace you imagine, the following would have to be implemented:

  1. A one-world government, with the conversion of nations into provinces or districts. In short, the end of national sovereignty.
  2. Strict top-down control over all news & entertainment media, so that no messages endorsing violence are ever produced, transmitted or broadcasted. In short, no more freedom of speech.
  3. Freedom of conscience would have to go, too. Allowing people to believe what they want creates the possibility of warlike doctrines spreading. A society at peace can't have that in its midst. Perhaps an official religion of state-worship & veneration of the Earth would do.
  4. No more privacy. As most millennials & zoomers have given up their privacy already, this wouldn't be a big change.
  5. A highly regulated capitalist economy, based on the "Nordic model". In short, a mix of private enterprise, income redistribution & ample public services. (It works far better than centrally planned economies)
  6. Strictly regulated schooling for the young, especially for boys. Kids would not only have to be trained for peace, but any budding psychopaths & other violent deviants must be detected at the earliest age possible & permanently removed from the human gene pool. Do that for enough generations, & the human race would become suitably docile.

The above is not a conclusive list.

@slowdecline48

It makes me shiver. Looks like a scene from the recent "Brave New World" series.

@jacek73 I don't blame you.

Haven't seen the series but I have read BNW (the book) more than once....certain aspects of Huxley's novel predicted 21st-century Western civ with eerie accuracy.

@amiablePeace77 first we have to stop killing millions of animals. once we start showing love to animals we naturally show love to each other, overall the space will be clean for us to exist in if we stop killing animals. Aslo if we are serious about peace , stop manufacturing weapons.

@amiablePeace77

In my opinion the shortest answer about what we should change is: EVERYTHING.

@jacek73

There are definitively many things that need changing! I am thankful for all these organizations who make so many efforts to protect people and improve the world.

@amiablePeace77

There are also too many organisations that take benefits from war, disease or empty words.

Particularly, I don't like destructing the nature or throwing away food en masse while half of the world is hungry or malnourished.

But yes, let's concentrate on the better part 😊

I believe for world peace to happen we need to care about others. In this all about me world I think we lost sight of compassion and empathy.

Hi, Ami,

I'm not sure, but I'll tell you what I guess.  I think that people need to be the best person they can be.  I also think people should treat others like chosen  family.  I'm not sure what else.

"Like chosen family" 👍We usually wouldn't hurt people we care for.

@amiablePeace77 People need to be more submissive to the right.

Well, it's a deeply thought out question! Nobody does think this way so kudos to your thought for this firstly!

My stance says, Empathy and Compassion is something that can make the world peaceful!

Thinking about one's own priorities, choices and respecting boundaries is important! But at the same time, acknowledging the other side equally well automatically makes things peaceful!

Treating the others the way we want to be treated is something needed I believe to make the world not only peaceful but also a better place to live in!

I think people need to train their mental flexibility, not necessarily their current thoughts, but HOW they came to those thoughts and the possibility that they might not be entirely correct. That would be more than enough to make the world slightly more peaceful.

Looking at the source of our thoughts makes sense. It also helps us to understand ourselves better.

I so agree! Just acceptance changes a lot already. It does not necessarily mean we need to be like others or do the same thing. Accept diversity!
