Community Mentor Leader Role!
I am excited to announce that you can now apply for Community Mentor Leader of a specific sub-community! The below role write up is a little long, but don't be intimidated! We wanted to write out an inclusive description. Once you are in the role, it will be up to you to prioritize duties and make this role your own. Keep reading :D!
The community mentor track has long been related to any project that enhances the community experience such that members get better and higher quality support.
Your job will be to coordinate and oversee the daily operations of entire sub-community, ensuring that forums, group support and feed teams collaborate and work together for the betterment of the sub-community. You will work to ensure your sub-community continues to be a place of support, kindness and activity. This will be a project based role, where your project is to take ownership of your sub-community, coordinate with other leaders, participate in group activities and be a reliable friendly face!
Role Duties:
-----> Know all of the other leaders on your team! Make sure they are doing well, support them, be someone they can always go to with questions and ideas!
-----> Proactively reach out to your leader to check in
-----> Make sure the leadership list is up to date
-----> Make sure the discussion schedule/ bio text is up to date
-----> Host special events in your sub-community! Should be at least one special event every 3 months
-----> Special events should be relevant to your specific community topic
-----> Be a friendly face in your community
-----> Post to the forums regularly - if your community has a check-in section - checking in regularly is a great way to show you are a friendly face
-----> Participate in group support - be a friendly face
-----> Fill in! We all know that volunteer sometimes have personal issues pop up! You will be responsible for pinch hitting & filling in to ensure regularly scheduled programming continues
-----> Able to take role on for 4+ months (if and when you leave the role, you will be responsible for training a new person to take over).

Note: If you are not yet a mentor, but would like to be working towards this mentor leader role. You have 3 ways to get there -
Apply for one of the following roles:
1) Group mod/ Group Mod team member/ Group Mod Mentor - Being an active member of your sub-community chatroom is a great way to work towards the Community ML role. If your topic does not have a room yet, be active in supporting one-off discussions in an open/ close room.
2) Forum Supporter / Forum Mentor or Forum Member leader - Being an active member of your sub-community forum is a great way to work towards the Community ML role. Being active in the forums will give you hands on experience in your community!
*note members - you are welcome to apply for both of these forum roles!
3) Community Mentor - On the application, please indiciate that you want to join a specific sub-community team

The above role description is a little long! Please keep the following things in mind -
-----> This role emerged from learning what has been working well in some of our existing subcommunities
-----> Those who will apply (at least to start) should already be established in the community they are hoping to lead.
-----> We will invite a few ppl to do a test run with this role (maybe 4-5 depending on interest and those who are qualified). From there we will learn and update the role as needed.
-----> Instead of creating a new role title - I am using the community mentor track for this. As its an inclusive project track, i believe it makes the most sense. After all, its a community project!!
-----> The role write up below is a little on the long side - i think it would be up to the leader to prioritize the duty list. And again, it may change as we go/ learn. So having a bunch of stuff on there now can only help us refine the role! Additionally, we should aim to have more than one person in this role per community to ensure coverage.
-----> In the context of this role, its important to think of each subcommunity as a project that needs management and support. It is a project, just like any other project on the site!
@Laura Hi Laura when you say more than one per community what is the number of persons in mind per community or would it vary depending on some metric for each community and if so what is that metric?

Is there an age restriction

Mentor Leaders are an adult listener role, so the age restriction would be 18 and up. Members and Teens are encouraged to get involved in the subcommunity of their choice though! :)

Hey there! You can totally apply once you meet the requirements 
The first step toward becoming a Teen Community Star Leader with a subcommunity focus is applying to become a Project Agent. You can read what the requirements are and view the application form for reference to see if you can make it a goal of yours to apply one day! Since the Community track for Teen Community Stars a bit different than the other three main tracks (Quality, Chatroom, and Forum) with there being no training, you must have a project you're willing to become a leader of. If you get accepted, the next step is to be the best Project Agent you can be! After awhile into your role and you feel well equipped, you can apply to become a Teen Star! After two months and displaying stellar commitment by trying to the best of your ability, you can finally apply to become a Teen Star Leader. I'll get you the links to all of this soon but I'm in a bit of a rush currently 
@Emily619 @Emily619 for applying for this role as an adult, we need to be forum mentor, so i guess for teens it would needed to be forum star?? but I don't know?

Community mentor leader is a different track :)
@MonBon it was needed for this specific role that we are talking in this post (subcommunity focus), maybe because subcommunities take place on the forums. I'm not community mentor.
