@EssenceOfHope
I am seriously considering about doing an intern here but the issue is, I don't go to a college/school or any type of education institute. With that being said, can I apply to become an intern?
In the application form your intern involves 70% support and 30% outreach, what does it mean by outreach, do you know what tasks that would involve?
@harrytheunicorn, Yes you can apply even if you are not associated with any institution. There are two kinds of outreach:
Online outreach is done via social media, online forums, facebook groups, Reddit posts, etc. Basically, any time you paste your unique referral link online and it gets clicked on, it will be an online outreach.
Offline outreach includes presenting about 7 Cups to a group of people, posting flyers* at public places, writing an article in a magazine, taking creative initiatives to let people know that support is available at 7 Cups.
You can check this detailed post about it here.
@EssenceOfHope
Thanks for explaining this to me
@jitu28
Try it
hi, I would REALLY love to do this! Unfortunately I'm 13, to young for a listener. Therefore technically i can't. But is there any way I can still participate? :)
Hey there
I'm a second year psychology student and I'm interested in doing the interenship program during my break. But I'm in South Africa, how will that work if I apply to the program?
Hey, @darkleaf96.You can start the internship whenever it is convenient for you! You can do it from anywhere as long as you have internet access and you can commit to it.
@EssenceOfHope Commit relating to spesific times being online?
@darkleaf96, No! that is totally up to you.
I am interested in the program, but am currently going to high school, college, and working two different jobs. How many hours are you expecting interns to put in a week? I really like this idea and want to participate, but I do have a busy schedule and need to know how much you are expecting out of the interns. - Ocendade
@Ocendade, that really depends upon yourself actually. A task may take you 10 minutes and me 15, we all differ as individuals. Mainly it requires you to complete at least 10 hours of listening with members/guest each week but if you are able to handle 2 chats at a time for an hour then that will count as 2 hours, cutting your hours in half. Other than that, it requires a variety of tasks to be completed most of which are not that time-consuming. On average you need anywhere between 6 to 12 hours a week depending upon your own capability. I hope that answers your question.
@EssenceOfHope thanks for the response. I have a few more questions, sorry. I have 12 weeks left in my college term until I graduate with my associates. If I were to wait until after my graduation would this opportunity still be available or will I have missed the deadline? Are there any experience or qualifications that I should be aware of? Also, is hear ability going to play a role in the internship? The last place I tried to intern at wouldn't allow me because the orientation was a compilation of videos with unreliable captions. And lastly, (somewhat of a repeat of the previous question) is my deafness going to hinder me in any way (lack of communication, brake flow of communication, lack of resources, being ignored, dismissed, ostricized) if I meet all the requirements, apply, and get accepted? Thanks again. - Ocendade
@Ocendade, you can apply whenever you like, it will surely be here after your graduation. The internship will not be affected by your deafness, moreover, we are a whole team full of people ready to help you whenever you need assistance. We like to see the interns being independent and do things on their own but whenever they need any guidance we are here for them. You can take your time to graduate and apply when you have enough time. Goodluck with your studies. Looking forward to having you intern with us, one day!
@EssenceOfHope Thank you so much for your time and rapid responses. I really appreciate it. It is something I am seriously looking into. Your time sensitity and awareness makes me feel more comfortable and open with the opportunity. Thank you once again. - Ocendade
Am I able to start internship in the summer and then stop for school again? And repeat? I want to help people when I have enough time for everyone.
@PikachuTheDoge, The internship lasts from 8 to 12 weeks, you are not able to pause the internship but you can choose any week between 8 to 12 weeks as the duration.
@EssenceOfHope @PikachuTheDoge
Actually you can take a break of 7 days, announced to an internship mentor.
@EssenceOfHope
You can look in the FAQ thread to make this thread even better. I believe it lacks a few informations.
I have a question. Is this valued in Germany? More specifically in Bavaria? I am in 9th grade now and I would love to become a listener. If the internship is valued in Germany, would it help me on my path to becoming a psychologist?
hey, @LonelyMuffin24. The internship value for you can only be correctly calculated by your institution. This may value more for you than me or vice versa depending on the institution you are studying in.
@EssenceOfHope thank you so much for explaining. I'll ask my teacher about it.
You can expect my application in the next few days. This is an awesome opportunity, and completely free - I love it!
So how do I become an intern, exactly? I'm a biy confused.
@VeryTinyMae, You can fill this application and you will hear back through the email you mention in the application within 3 to 5 days. The email will state your starting date and on that date, you will start as an intern.
