Thanks to everyone who has taken to the new feed feature in the spirit of support, compassion, and inspiration. I woke up today to a very uplifting stream of images and thoughts. This is such a great community.
We know there are bugs and we are listening to all the feedback and focusing on what to fix first and what to tackle next.
Here are some improvements you should expect to see rolling out of the next day or so:
1. Enable 7 Cups acct to repost posts.
2. Enable teens to follow adults with the teen badge
3. Add tab for ‘people Im following on the Manage Followers screen.
4. Enable option to show bio (About You) expanded on initial load of profile
5. Put center column on top when screen width is too narrow to show all three columns
6. Add initial set of notifications
There's much more to do, of course, but I wanted to share with you our immediate priorities.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn will the Members have an About Me section as the Listeners have? :)
That would be so damn useful, in a way that not only members would learn from each others, but it would also make it easier for listeners so they know who they are chatting with. :)
Apparently this has been on our roadmap for a while and so maybe the time has come. Need to tackle some more basic fixes first but we'll address this one soon.

I will turn 18 in a few days. What will happen to my followers and the list of people I'm following? Will they stay or will they disappear?

Is it possible to see who has reposted our content? - Or will this be included in the updated notifications?
we know that's a missing piece. we will add visibility into reposting similar to hearting and yes we also want to roll out notifications for when you are followed, hearted, reposted, or mentioned (we may not get all that in one fell swoop, though... some things are trickier than others).

That said - Is it possible to keep follows and following private too? One could use it to keep up to date with members and guests - But that defeats the purpose of private association for some, altogether.

I think I didn't explain that well. There's a 7 Cups (official) feed we're all subscribed to by default. We added the ability for admins to repost posts they see in their own feeds to the 7 Cups feed (as a way of sharing a really good post, for example).

neat! it is definitely eating a bit into my social media time on other platforms, and that's kind of nice because my interactions here generally make me feel better and a lot of my interactions on twitter and facebook and in blog and news comment sections leave me feeling worse. (but that's just me!)

If you set your feed to closed, in your settings, this will make it so other people cannot see who you are following or who is following you, and will also mean you need to approve people who request to follow you from that point on.
Finally found that elusive checkbox. Lol.

Aw. So not forum posts? That is sad because we could all easily link to some seriously good quotes - It could raise awareness for certain surveys or petitions - You know, those ones that noone ever sees until it's years late. For whatever reason.
I have a new feature request and or suggestion though.!
As a social feature, people (coughthedrum) tend to re-post things like a tornado. If some others were following or visiting one's page to see say, a status update, that's lost within seconds. Though having feed to be the reply-to-all or notify-all for something like "sorry, gotta afk twenty minutes", etc seems so convenient.. !
Therefore I suggest: Either a new "quick notify all of break" feature or to filter feed by only that posted directly by user. And maybe an alternate feed to follow there. Is that too much a breach of privacy? Even if the idea is rejected, would like to hear opinions and input alike :)
I'm glad you finally added a link back to original though is it just me, or some repost actions are bugging or not working? Aside from that, can see I obviously became infatuated with the feature. Sigh... X)
Not sure if this has been addressed yet but about that rapid fire repost thing -- Totally not the case now. Guess it's not entirely a bad thing. Can't repost any and everything I see just like so. What yay for possible followers. X)
Question: If we allow followers, do they see who else is following, who we're following etc? I'm feeling guilty for ignoring all the requests to, some of them actual listenees (who will really only get a bulk of inspirational messages, quotes, etc and sweet nothings if they do but whatever X)), others obligatory return-followees. If that makes sense.

Are there plans to make the username of the original poster underneath a repost become a hyperlink to their profile so you can immediately check out more of their content without having to manually look up their username?
Can your stuff be reposted by your followers if you have a closed feed? Will there be an option to enable and disable the reposting of your content?
I'm wondering because the closed feed option sounds like it's there so people can monitor who is able to see their content, but if their followers can just repost it to their own feed, it would beat the whole purpose.
the name of the original poster is a hyperlink to their profile (try clicking or tapping it).
we do not restrict reposts, and closed feeds are still publicly visible.
closing your feed just gives you control over who follows you (who sees your posts in their incoming feed) and hides your follower and following list from other people.
Okay, that clears it up.
The username is only a hyperlink when I reposted it myself, not when someone I follow did so
Adding to what @crimsonPlum47 said, I cannot click the names of those reposted by 7Cups - there is no hyperlink (although there is for when anyone else reposts). However, I do not follow anyone currently. So I am wondering if this is really because there is a hyperlink on people's profiles [where I view others' feeds] but perhaps not on the feed of those followed you can view itself, in light of what has been mentioned.
I also cannot heart any of 7Cups' posts. Only repost.
OK, getting a little confusing. If the problem is limited to the 7 Cups feed that makes sense as it is somewhat irregular, not being tied to a listener or member account. For example, we are aware that it cannot accept hearts right now.
I can find out why reposts in the 7 Cups feed don't contain links to the original poster, as of course we'd like to make it easier to see more posts by anyone who is reposted (or to follow them -- and in general we're working on making it easier to follow people whenever you feel like it). That can probably be fixed.
If it actually has to do with who reposted it, that sounds like a bug, so I'll look into it.

It may be. I don't follow anyone else, so I'm unsure. But I only mentioned the 7Cups heart situation as one post said to Heart the post if engaging in the Gratitude Challenge and - of course - I couldn't. So I wasn't sure if that meant it was an issue. I hadn't given it much thought prior to that!
Yes, that was a mistake on our part. The post should have said to repost, given that it asked people to do something impossible.

I definitely find my feed really uplifting, and I'm discovering a lot of neat folks in the community who maybe don't post to forums so much or haven't introduced themselves to me personally yet.

those things things are definitely on the roadmap with comments / notes coming sooner i expect but tomorrow's update is a surprise.
