Getting to Know You
Hi! My name is Tova and I am a Room Supporter for the community!
A little about me: I am an alcoholic and an opiate addict. I have been sober for 15 years. I went to AA and NA meetings, but I know that's not for everyone. I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm not on a mission to get you sober. I'm here to listen to your struggles and celebrate your victories. Anywhere you are on your journey, even if you are not sober and things are hard, I support you. I don't judge anyone. Addiction is very personal to me, and I know how it affects your life.
I'd like to know what you would like out of the chat room. We are planning to have a guided discussion soon so please watch the calendar for that if you're interested. I will be opening the room for live chat this weekend, so if you see the room open, please stop by and say hello!
Also, feel free to tell me a bit about yourself. I'd like to get to know the community better!

Your support means alot! Some people and part of an addicts problem is not having support or people to open up to.
Congrats to 15yrs of sobriety!! I hope to one day say the same. I am 4 yrs clean from my drug of choice but now im back and forth with another that I need to stop now but dont know how to!! I think if I could open up more about the situation it would help me to stop. Im looking for addicts and/or recovering addicts to chat with in groups. Similar to NA but online and through chatting versus actual talking.
I am new to this site. Any words of wisdom or support is appreciated.

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time. It's hard to say no when the behaviors start creeping back in. How can we best support you here?
We could definitely have a weekly check-in group if you're looking to connect with others in recovery. I know you could use it right now while things are tough. I'm going to look into doing something like that today and get back to you.
