I’ve noticed whenever I feel stressed at school my first goto is ***. It’s against my religion so it feels so wrong and I feel so guilty afterwards. I think it’s especially hard as a female. I really wish I knew how to control or handle this urge

I totally get you, I was once there too but inorder to help you control we'd have to first focus on what gets you there. I know it's not easy since there'll be relapses but with focus, dedication and trust we can help you get better. Just a message away!

Hey , that is so normal because as an addict myself I turn to sex whenever my emotions are too strong. My problem isn’t sex it’s life . I don’t know how to deal with life . But believe it or not I’m a week away from being sober for one year !!! Coming from someone who couldn’t go two days without *** . So my message to you is that there is hope although the journey is *** hard , I’m not going to lie to you but it’s soooooo worth it . So if you’re interested in knowing what helped me , feel free to message me whenever you’re ready

@passionateThinker4782 Can you clarify more on "the problem is life" and What it means? Is it that nobody cares?, no one listens?, no one accepts?

Congratu-freaking-lations. Proud of you. You did a lot of work to get there. You maybe skipped some things that you told yourself to do, but you still got here.

A very authentic congratulations on your one year. Have you been involved with SAA at all? Depending on a couple of things, I know an online group that gives out sobriety chips, and the 1 year is a nice, solid bronze.

I was in a strict religion that also forbade masturbation. So I understand all the emotions, pleasure, and shame, regret. It's a spiral. Personally I think religion shouldn't tell u what to do, don't harm others, then let them be. But if you want to talk about strategies I have some ideas. Like the other person mentioned, it is important to know what triggers you too.

@patientKiwi1737 as a female, i have to say, this addiction recovery is mostly concentrated towards men, i have no idea why. but i've been struggling with this too, and i have no idea how to get over it... relapse has become too often that i cant even say if i'm trying tbh.

i'm currently trying to gather few people struggling with the same for holding each other accountable and motivating ourselves, do let me know if you're interested in it!!

Please, I want to be part of that support group because I feel the same way. I have been trying to cope on my own with no support but I feel so ashamed and stuck. I can't keep going like this. Please.

Hey, I really appreciate you opening up about this it takes a lot of courage to share something so personal. I get how tough it can be to feel stuck in that cycle of doing something that feels good in the moment but leaves you feeling guilty afterward. I went through something similar, and it wasn’t easy, but I found a way to work through it, so maybe I can share what helped me.First, know that you’re not alone, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with you. These feelings and urges are human, and the guilt often comes from how we’ve been taught to view this behavior, not because you’re ‘bad.’ For me, overcoming it was about understanding why I was turning to it so often—was it stress, boredom, loneliness, or something else? Figuring that out helped me find healthier ways to cope, like for me I've used to go for walk and mainly i didn't isolated myself and i have no friends so i used to talk with my parents with different topics cause that kept my mind engaged. "so most importantly never be in alone when the urges hit back to you". The guilt part is tough, but try to be kind to yourself. Instead of beating yourself up, maybe reflect on what’s driving the behavior and what you’re really seeking in those moments. For me, setting small, realistic goals like. I started by staying consistent for 4 days, then gradually extended it to 21 days, a month, and eventually 3 months. That step-by-step approach made a huge difference in overcoming it. I also found it helpful to talk to someone I trusted or even read up on mindfulness techniques to stay grounded.

I'm a trans man, Kiwi, so I want to say that up front. Though "male" may be listed somewhere in my profile, I hope you hear me here, where I've come to connect with you. I lived as a porn addicted female for 23 years. It's a god awful isolation, too.. ESPECIALLY in religious/spiritual communities!!

"Male" might be a word that describes me now, but it doesn't erase 34 years as a female or the 23 years that were spent with porn.

-----

I'd be happy to talk more with you. I hope you dont feel scared by me being "male." A label cannot tell an entire story. In 2020, I came out as a non-binary transgender person ("just, neither gender, please, thank you").

There's no losing the "who I was," though, whether that was learning to cook, work, be a woman, think & speak like a woman, or socializing like a woman, that's all still there and I have more than enough heart-room to speak with a familiar: your beautiful soul, which is addicted to porn, and your female body response (/brain hijacking). That's awkward to say, and I will admit that now.

I think its part of what is missed when people talk about female pornography consumption. We may be filling a different hole in our life/heart/mind, or drowning out a different voice or memory than the guy across the street, but we are still human folks struggling with this S.

-----

Hit me up. I would love to share what I've learned through Sex Addicts Anonymous (online meetings listed on their site), an app that's helped (& several that haven't), and -- where I am now with all of it. Hint: I'm not sober, but I am wiser now that I have more accurate ways to view both addiction and porn.

If anyone's read all of this and wants more -- Read "Your Brain on Porn." It zeroes in on guys.. HARD. ...lol, hard erections .. and lack thereof. But, outside of gender's impact, there is SO much to take away from the studies and research cited in it!!

Signed,
