I feel like I'm going insane

Hey guys, I am coming back to 7Cups recently because Ive been in a panic for the last week. The world is crazy right now, and in about 3 days, I managed to make myself panic. Each day I see a new big headline and it stresses me the *** out. I want to find a good balance between staying informed, and NOT feeling like my heart's gonna jump out of my chest. Im having gagging fits and a low hunger, and nervous diarrhea after I eat. It's getting really bad. Talking with family and neighbors has really helped me, with my mom helping me dive deeper into my faith, something I was lacking in, and my neighbor sits with me and he lets me talk. I'm starting to calm down slowly, but its like an entity is constantly standing on my shoulders, banging my head demanding I remember that "THE WORLD IS ENDING HIDE AND BE SCARED!" There are calm moments and moments of high heart rate. Im just trying to live right now, be with my family, and I'm looking into therapy again. Is this an ADHD thing, ingesting so much political news that you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders? Thanks friends.

@ImJustSadHonestly Hey, I’m really sorry you’re going through this, it's completely understandable to feel panicked with everything happening around us. It’s great that you have support from your mum and neighbour, and that you’re thinking about therapy again. Remember to give yourself permission to take breaks from the news and focus on grounding activities that help calm your body and mind. You’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to take things one moment at a time. If you ever need to talk, we're here to listen.

Thanks, I really appreciate your words. Are there any grounding exercises you recommend?

Hugs

I don't know why, but bad news tends to be more interesting than good news and news agencies capitalize on it with sensational and disturbing headlines. I often jump down rabbit holes by clicking on the news articles that my phone recommends, and I dive deeper into those stories when I wonder, "What's the rest of the story?" But these news stories usually aren't directly relevant to me, and they probably aren't directly relevant to you, too. I just allow myself to see bits and pieces of the news so that I can carry on with my life.

I as m sorry that you are going through so much anxiety. I don’t know if this related to ADHD. It might be a good idea to watch less news. Is there anything you enjoy doing? If so, try to do the things you do enjoy and you find relaxing.
